Is PSN out? Here’s everything we know about the current PlayStation outage
It appears that PSN is unavailable in several regions. It’s very unusual and rare to see such outages, so here’s what we know so far about when it started, what consequences it has, and if there’s any sign of recovery at this point.
The outage started today at 9:51 AM PST / 12:51 PM EST / 4:51 PM GMT and is currently affecting PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 3, PS Vita, and web services across the board.
Players have reported errors and issues in account management, gaming and social media, PlayStation Video, PlayStation Store and PlayStation Direct. While your experience will vary depending on your region, we do know that the US, UK, Australia, Japan and continental Europe have all been affected by the outage, leading us to suspect it could be a global issue.
As you can see from a snapshot below of the official PlayStation Network Service Status page, things aren’t looking good, with issues affecting all facets of the ecosystem.
PlayStation Network reports on Down Detector are currently peaking, which means more and more people are reporting problems. Millions of PlayStation owners in Europe will also be wrapping up work around this time, leaving many disappointed if they had online gaming plans.
With such widespread outages across all PlayStation services, people will be reluctant to do anything from redeeming a code and buying a game to playing the most important online game of the moment.
