Fitbit’s AI chatbot is coming to Android ‘later this year’ β here’s how to get access
During his recent Control 2024 eventGoogle has offered a major update on Fitbit Labs, giving us an idea of ββwhen the highly anticipated Fitbit AI-powered assistant will launch.
The tech giant was cautious about the official launch of its Fitbit chatbot, only stating that it will be released later this year. Additionally, there will be a limited release available only to the small group of Android users currently enrolled in the program in the Fitbit app.
Why are we so excited about this? The chatbot is a fitness assistant that answers all your burning questions about your personal Fitbit data in a casual way. It should replicate what it’s like to talk to a personal trainer. Google’s technology is said to deliver “personalized insights” into how your fitness journey is going and coach you on things you can do to improve.
The Fitbit AI will also create graphs and βhelp people better understand (their) own data.β For example, chatbot responses will display Fitbit’s active zone minutes alongside an average sleep score.
All of this information was hinted at during the AI’s initial reveal in early October, but as we get closer to launch, Google is filling in some of the gaps. There are still many murky details. We reached out to the company to ask if there are any plans to add other types of charts to the chatbot and if it could give us an idea as to when the AI ββwill be officially rolled out. We will update this story as we receive new information.
If you’re interested in giving the chatbot a try, you can join Fitbit Labs at any time; However, you do need a subscription Fitbit Premium First.
Google’s search upgrade
In addition to the chatbot, Google also talked about upgrading its search engine with detailed health information about certain conditions. βImages and diagrams from high-quality (online) sourcesβ will be present in the search results, helping people better understand the symptoms they may be feeling. The new visual resources will be rolled out globally to Google Search on mobile in the coming months. No word or similar feature on the desktop will appear.
