Married At First Sight star Sara Mesa was questioned by Tim Calwell’s best friend about her infamous “cheating scandal” during Tuesday night’s episode.

The nutritionist, 29, became embroiled in drama when her best friend Eden Harper told her groom Tim, 31, that she had met her ex-boyfriend behind his back.

The couple have been trying to move on from the scandal in recent days, with Sara trying to regain Tim’s trust after apologizing for lying about her whereabouts.

However, they hit a new roadblock during Tuesday’s Homestays episode when they visited Tim’s Sunshine State home and talked to his friends.

Sara became intensely aroused by Tim’s best friend Ben, who wanted to know why she had lied about seeing her ex-boyfriend in a group setting with their other friends.

While retelling the story to Ben, Tim and Sara also clashed over their perspectives on the situation, as she insisted she didn’t want to repeat the same fight over and over again.

Sara also became annoyed with Ben and snapped at him for interrupting her while she was trying to defend herself, with Tim’s friend insisting they needed to know the ‘context’.

Ben said to the camera: ‘I felt like there was an unresolved tension as they retold what happened, they have different perspectives on the situation.’

He asked Sara why she decided to lie about meeting her ex-boyfriend, wondering why she wouldn’t worry more about being caught in the lie.

“I left that out so as not to hurt his feelings,” Sara insisted.

But Ben quickly responded, “Did you think you could get away with it?”, prompting Sara to say, “I knew deep down it was wrong.”

Ben then replied, “Sounds like a nightmare,” as Tim sat silently amid the awkward and rapid exchange.

But Sara replied, “I’m telling you the context, but you’re interrupting. You finish the story (Tim), he won’t interrupt you.’

She then seemed irritated as she commented that she needed “a drink” before Tim and Ben had a private chat about the drama.

Tim said he was concerned about the trust in their relationship, but Sara became defensive and told them to move on, accusing Tim of having the same argument over and over again.

“I want you to sympathize with me, not defend your position,” Tim said, criticizing her for being defensive when she was the person who was in the wrong.

“I tell you it’s my concern and you tell me not to bring it up.”

However, Sara argued, “I feel like you’re kind of throwing me under the bus, we’ve talked about not bringing this up again, it’s not helping us.”

It prompted Sara to say, “I know very well what happened, I don’t see how we can move on if we can’t just move on.”

Sara burst into tears and then said, “We’ve talked about this so many times, I’ve tried so damn hard, Tim.”

Despite the tense scenes, Tim noted that he felt “heard and understood” for the first time when they overcame their differences during the tearful argument.

Tim insisted he just wanted to express his concerns and feel heard, to which Sara again said she wanted to move on from the drama.

‘I know this will never happen again, I’m sorry. I show you every day that I want to be here,” she insisted.

Tim then replied: “I definitely noticed the energy shift, you tried it” before hugging Sara as they got over their differences.

Speaking to camera, Tim noted that he felt like they had a “breakthrough” amid the tension, feeling “heard and understood” for the first time.

“It was really hard to see it all again,” Sara told Daily Mail Australia of the huge backlash.

She admitted that reliving her experience has forced her to confront aspects of her behavior that she is not proud of.

‘It made me feel very sad, especially because of the way I treated Tim. I have so many regrets… It’s like holding a mirror up to a lot of the things I need to work on, on myself and in relationships,” she explained.

Reflecting on her actions, Sara expressed regret and a wish to have handled things differently, saying that she would have told Tim about the encounter if she could go back.
