The actress said that when she was a teen idol, she heard that her boyfriend had recorded an intimate video with another girl. She claims that, like everyone else, she learned of his infidelity through “the cover of a magazine.”
But it didn’t leave her in a mess. She decided to take the unfortunate situation and turn it into something positive. Since then, she found her greatest success.
The Mexico City resident reflected on the scandal, saying that as a young actress in Los Angeles she faced a mix of partying and crying.
So she worked tirelessly to distract herself from the failed relationship with her career.
While she was distraught and emotional, she revealed that her mother pushed her and made movements as she healed. When she updated her IMDB page and got a manager in the United States, the job offers started pouring in.
With 10 years of acting and drawing experience in Mexico at the time, she had the resume to back her up.
After modeling in her home country, she finally landed a role in the hit 2017 film Baby Driver and has only gone on to more success.
Acting provided her with a platform where she could fully express herself by playing other characters
“And then it all happened,” she said, noting the turning point, “it all stemmed from my boyfriend cheating on me with as*x tape. What are the chances?’
On Monday, she put her foot down and said, “If you haven’t been to therapy, I’m not going out with you.”
But it is not her ex to whom she owes her career. Rather, her late father and grandparents who died the same year when she was only twelve.
The actress called it “the most tragic thing that has ever happened to me.” It was really weird because I was in the saddest part of my life… but I was the happiest I’d ever been.”
Her mother had the heartbroken Gonzalez participate in a variety of extracurricular activities, including acting, dancing and painting, to keep her mind off the trauma.
“The moment I acted and the moment I sang and the moment I stood on that stage, I was more alive than ever,” she said, reminiscing about her first time acting.
Gonzalez landed her first acting role at the age of 15 in the Mexican soap opera Lola, Erase una Vez (Lola: Once Upon a Time), where she played a girl living a double life… just like Hannah Montana.
Her sadness persisted despite her acting career. However, it provided her with a platform where she could fully express herself by playing other characters.
“I live all the feelings I want to live,” she said of the unique perspective acting gives her. “I am overwhelmed with fear, but I welcome the fear. It’s the only time in my life that fear feels friendly.”
“Every time something really tragic has happened, something amazing has happened right after,” she said; seen on March 8 in Austin, Texas
The star, who has been linked to A-list actors Liam Hemsworth, Timothée Chalamet and Jason Momoa, said her job gave her the life lessons she needed:
“I feel like I’ve lived twenty lives,” she described, “(but) every time something tragic happens to me, I never complain about it.”
“Every time something really tragic has happened, something amazing has happened right afterward.”
