Raheem Sterling’s shocking penalty miss against Leicester is slammed by Martin Keown – as angry Chelsea fans call him out for taking it off Cole Palmer
Pundits and football fans have criticized Raheem Sterling after his shock penalty miss in Chelsea’s FA Cup tie with Leicester.
Sterling decided to take the penalty which he won after a clumsy foul from Abdul Fatawu, who The Blues could have given a comfortable early 2-0 lead.
However, the experienced winger made poor contact with the ball and it went straight through the middle, giving Leicester keeper Jakub Stolarczyk an easy ball.
Martin Keown said on commentary: He’s certainly (a shocker) one of the players you watch in this new generation of Chelsea players to be sure and he hits the ball straight down the middle.
‘There’s no quality there at all. No real goal, no power, comfortable for the goalkeeper.’

Fans, meanwhile, have criticized him for ‘taking the penalty from Cole Palmer, who has taken it regularly this season’.
One fan said: ‘Takes the pen over Palmer and misses. I’m at a loss for words for Sterling. Just go away.’
Tom Overend said: “Raheem Sterling taking Palmer’s penalty is very poor.
“Palmer is our taker and to undermine that as a senior player is not leadership. Very disappointing.’
