Jack Grealish jokingly mocked Bernardo Silva after Manchester City’s FA Cup quarter-final victory over Newcastle.

Pep Guardiola’s side booked their place in the semi-finals at Wembley with a 2-0 win against the Magpies at the Etihad.

The opening goal of the match came after 13 minutes when Bernardo Silva came in from the left and hit a shot that took a big deflection off Dan Burn on its way past Martin Dubravka.

City doubled their lead in similar fashion just after the half-hour mark through Silva’s shot, this time deflected by Sven Botman.

And after the match, Grealish took to social media to announce that his Portuguese teammate was lucky to get on the scoresheet.

The England international, who came on the bench after recovering from a groin injury, posted a photo of Silva holding up two fingers to indicate he had scored twice.

Grealish captioned the photo on Instagram: ‘They weren’t his goals!! They were own goals!!’

By beating Newcastle, Manchester City set a new record as they became the first team to advance to the semi-finals of the FA Cup for six consecutive seasons.

A delighted Guardiola said: “After winning the treble and five titles, we come to the international break with two months to go and to be fighting for all the titles means a lot,” the City boss said.

‘I know people talk about the Premier League and the Champions League, but because they have won four Carabao Cups and reached six FA Cup semi-finals in a row, this team, this club, has something special, so it’s unbelievable .

‘Of course we want to win them all, but sometimes because of the quality of the opponents and the schedule we have, this is not possible… but we were there six times in a row.

“You can always have a bad night or a bad afternoon and to have been there six times you haven’t had a bad night. And for those who doubt the team’s consistency, you prove them wrong.”

City will continue their hunt for a second successive treble after the international break when they take on Premier League leaders Arsenal at the Etihad.
