Holly Valance declares her support for Reform UK: Ex-Neighbours star, 40, once hailed a ‘Tory poster girl’ for taking a surprise pop at lefties in viral clip will vote for Lee Anderson’s new party at the next General Election

Former Neighbors actress Holly Valance has revealed she will vote for Reform UK at the next general election.

The ex-pop star, 40, admitted she voted Conservative in the 2019 general election but will now switch her allegiance to the party which is led by Richard Tice and recently welcomed its first sitting MP Lee Anderson.

Valance spoke to GB News political editor Christopher Hope on the Chopper politics podcast, where she also revealed she wants the reform to be led by former Brexit Party leader Nigel Farage.

She told Hope: β€œLast time I voted Conservative. Next time I will vote for Reform. I think the definition of insanity is doing the same thing and expecting a different outcome, and I’m sure I won’t vote Labour.”

Valance was hailed as a ‘Tory poster girl’ after she made a surprise pop at ‘lefties’ in a viral clip as she attended the launch of the ‘Popular Conservatism’ group with her property mogul husband Nick Candy.

Valance welcomed Anderson’s move to reform, which was announced earlier this week after he had the Conservative whip removed for failing to apologize for comments he made about London mayor Sadiq Khan.

She said: β€œI support anyone who sticks to what they believe in and who isn’t a turncoat, who doesn’t do a million flip-flops and U-turns.

‘So I can respect that. Even for the crazies on the other side, if you stick to what you believe in and keep repeating it for years, I can always respect that.”

Valance added: β€œLee has moved from Labor to Conservatives and now to Reform. It’s really strange, because in 1993 there was a Reform Party in Canada that also pushed the Tories aside in Canada, or smashed them to smithereens, which is probably going to happen here.

“It’s not that I think we will necessarily have a reform government, but that it is a means to get to the next chapter.”

Valance rose to fame as ‘Flick Scully’ in Neighbors and later launched a pop career after appearing on the Australian soap opera.

She added that she wanted to see Nigel Farage as the leader of Reform UK, while adding that Jacob Rees-Mogg would make a good Prime Minister.

Asked about reports that her multimillionaire husband Nick Candy was planning to vote Labor at the general election, Valance added: ‘It was just a miscommunication with the way he structured the sentence.

β€œHe said, ‘Labour is coming in and it’s time for change.’ It wasn’t ‘Labour comes in and I’ll vote for them’.” When asked if he would vote Conservative, she replied: β€œI assume so. I think he’s a Tory.’

The billionaire sparked confusion after he praised Labor leader Sir Keir Starmer as ‘a decent man with good values’ and said it was ‘time for a change’, despite having previously donated money to the Conservative party under ex-Prime Minister Boris Johnson .

His comments came just days after both he and his wife attended the launch of the new group ‘Popular Conservatism’.

The couple heard speeches from ex-prime minister Liz Truss, former minister Sir Jacob Rees-Mogg and leading ‘Red Wall’ MP Lee Anderson.

After the Westminster event, Valance seemed to expose himself as a staunch supporter of the ‘PopCons’.

She also told how she was drawn to the Tory right after shunning “nonsense ideas” from “leftists” earlier in her life.

The mother-of-two lashed out at climate alarmists and expressed her concerns about “the way things are going in the country.”

In an interview at the event, Valance said: β€œI am a citizen like everyone else here who is concerned about the way things are going in the country,” the former actress said.

‘There are a lot of things that worry me and concern me with the two small children I have to raise, what they might inherit. So I want to come and listen to ideas, good ideas.’

She added: ‘Everyone starts out as a lefty and then wakes up at some point after you start making money, working, trying to run a business, trying to buy a house, and then realize what rubbish ideas they all are – and then you go to the right.

‘The speakers today were fantastic. I actually found Liz very, very interesting to listen to. Jacob for PM!

‘The MP for Ashfield (Mr Anderson) was great, I like a Northerner, straight forward and very sensible.’

Speaking at the launch of ‘PopCon’, Mr Anderson argued that the British do not care about the government’s Net Zero emissions strategy.

And Valance appeared to agree with the Tory MP’s position, telling the TV news channel: ‘I just don’t think the climate crisis – or lack thereof – is a crisis.

β€œThe air is better than when I was growing up. When I was growing up, it smelled when I walked down the street.

‘Cleaner, cheaper energy is what we need; we can get and have that just fine.

β€œBut we’re just imposing all these restrictions on normal people who just want to go about their business and go to work, pick up their kids from school, go to the grocery store.

“It’s just madness, it’s like hitting your head against a wall every day.”
