Jimmy Barnes shows off his incredible strength as he gives health update following open-heart surgery

Jimmy Barnes showed off his growing strength on Thursday when he gave all his followers an incredible health update following his 2023 open heart surgery.

The Australian rock legend, 67, posed for an astonishing photo poolside while lifting a pair of large weights in each hand.

Posting the photo to Instagram, the Scottish-born musician smiled as he held the dumbbells aloft by his head, wearing only black trunks.

“Still Mr. Puniverse, but I feel fantastic,” he joked in the caption, showing off the tattoo he has over his heart – his wife Jane’s name.

It comes after Jimmy shared a hilarious health update on Sunday as he took to the pool for a few laps to improve his physical fitness.

The former Cold Chisel frontman made an awkward blunder as he posed for photos in the water and managed to put his glasses on upside down.

Wearing nothing but black trunks, the singer smiled as he excitedly threw his hands up for a few photos shared to Instagram.

However, the second image on his reel saw the artist donning a black swim cap and goggles, the latter of which were placed incorrectly on his face.

‘Sunday’s group goal, 30 laps. Don’t get too excited, 25 meter pool. “I didn’t know my glasses were upside down until Jane showed me this photo,” the caption read.

Another wrote: “I saw that,” alongside a glasses emoji and a series of laughing and crying emojis.

‘Brilliant well done Jimmy and thanks for the giggle about the glasses, I love that!’ someone else commented.

Yet another praised Jimmy’s wife Jane for “coming to the rescue” before adding: “Looking great Barnsey.”

It comes after Jimmy opened up about his close brush with death and serious fears he wouldn’t wake up after heart surgery.

The artist has survived quite a few health issues over his years of life, along with his drug and alcohol addiction.

While others previously worried about him, two months ago he was as worried as his family after he was struck by a life-threatening infection that affected his heart.

At one point, while in St. Vincent’s Hospital in Sydney, a seriously ill Jimmy told his wife Jane, “I don’t think I’m going to make it.”

‘I just had a terribly sick feeling, because I’ve never felt so sick before. I thought I was gone,” he said 60 minutes.

Hours before going to the hospital, an unwell Jimmy took the stage at a memorial concert for his late friend and promoter, Michael Gudinski.
