Stunning estate built by Johnny Cash for his son hits the market for $6.5 MILLION – complete with 20 acres of land and a cabin built the year George Washington became President
A sprawling Tennessee estate built by Johnny Cash for his son John Carter Cash, which includes a 235-year-old cabin, can be yours for as much as $6.25 million.
The estate, at 3120 New Hope Road, in Hendersonville, Tennessee, covers 20 acres of tree-covered, rolling land, and is also home to a cabin known as Dixon Cabin that dates back to 1789 – the year George Washington was sworn in as the first American president.
The main house offers two bedrooms and three bathrooms in 4,300 square feet of living space.
Known as the Dogwood Estate, the property was gifted by Johnny Cash and June Carter Cash in the 1980s to the country star’s only son, and the couple’s only biological child together.

The famous couple commissioned star Nashville builder Braxton Dixon to design and build the residence.

Eventually the son, now 54, became both a singer-songwriter and a Grammy-winning producer who has worked on albums with the likes of his own mother (who won a Grammy in 2000), Sheryl Crow, Loretta Lynn, Willie Nelson, Elvis Costello and Emmylou Harris, among other greats.
The location of Dogwood Estate was hardly random.
The elder Cashes had long owned a nearby farm, a six-building complex also under Dixon’s management called Sycamore Homestead.
Dogwood Estate and Sycamore Homestead actually share a driveway that crosses a wooden covered bridge built by Dixon.
Highlights of the home include the careful use of historic materials such as yellow center pine floors, stained glass windows from Europe, Amish-built stone fireplaces, and a 30-foot cathedral ceiling.

At the time of his death in 2003 at the age of 71, Johnny had amassed an estimated net worth of $60 million – which is just over $100 million today, adjusted for inflation.
