Gap Band member Anthony Walker – who also went by Baby Gap – dies at the age of 60 after complications from neck surgery

Gap Band member Anthony Walker – who also went by the nickname Baby Gap – has died at the age of 60.

His younger brother Dr. Eric Walker told it TMZ on Tuesday that is the star died last Monday in a hospital in Ohio.

The artist had suffered complications from a neck surgery he underwent and died as a result.

Anthony had worked as a break dancer for years starting in the 1970s, and his routines had probably taken a toll on his body.

His sibling told the site that Walker would be “celebrated” in his hometown of Chicago later this week.

Anthony was with the band for a long time: no less than 23 years.

The band formed in 1967, but Anthony joined in 1979.

She was a songwriter as well as a dancer and choreographer.

The Gap Band was a soul/funk group from Tulsa, Oklahoma, led by three Wilson brothers: Charles, Ronnie and Robert. The band is named after an intersection; Greenwood, Archer and Pine streets in the Greenwood neighborhood of Tulsa, Oklahoma.

Anthony also worked with music legends Rick James and George Clinton and appeared on Dick Clark’s American Bandstand.

His percussion skills can be found on Snoop Dogg’s single Snoop’s Upside Ya Head.

Before working with the band The Gap, he was part of the breakdance group Tidal Wave in the 1970s.

He also performed with GapX, a group formed by other former members of the Gap Band.

The Gap Band’s first hits were I’m in Love and Shake from 1979.

Later that year, the group released I Don’t Believe You Want to Get Up and Dance (Oops!) on their album The Gap Band II.

The song Steppin’ (Out) also reached the top 10 R&B.

The band rose to fame in 1980 with the release of The Gap Band III.

That album included soul ballads like Yearning for Your Love and funk songs like Burn Rubber (Why You Wanna Hurt Me) and Humpin’.

On the 1982 album Gap Band IV, their hits were Early in the Morning, You Dropped a Bomb on Me and Outstanding.

Their 1983 album, Gap Band V: Jammin’ had the hits Party Train and Jam the Motha.

The album’s closing track Someday featured Stevie Wonder as a guest vocalist.

Their next work, Gap Band VI, included Beep a Freak and I Found My Baby.

The Gap Band VII had the hit Great fun in 1986; 1988’s Straight from the Heart was their last studio album with Total Experience.

The Gap Band starred in the 1988 Keenen Ivory Wayans film, I’m Gonna Git You Sucka, with their tune You’re So Cute.

During the 1990s, the band released three uncharted studio albums and two live albums.
