I posted a photo of my kids’ school lunchboxes but never expected such furious backlash over one tiny detail
A mother has sparked outrage after posting an ‘innocent’ photo online, with parents criticizing a seemingly innocent detail about her children’s school meals.
The Gold Coast mum recently wanted to show off her impressive collection of b.box lunch boxes.
The high-quality bento boxes range from $32.95 to $36.95 and are typically considered high-end. That’s why parents were shocked when the Queensland mum revealed she had 13 units to share between her two children.

“I can’t believe how many people are mad about my kids’ lunch box collection,” she said. ‘They’re literally just lunch boxes! Luckily I didn’t show their collections of drinking bottles and accessories.’
Several people claimed that the mother’s collection was ‘unnecessary hoarding’.
The mother’s excuse for having so many spare parts was that she didn’t want to worry in case her children lost their lunch box.
However, b.box allows customers to order specific parts of their lunch boxes (such as lids) if shoppers misplace or damage the items.
Parents on Facebook slammed the culture of overconsumption, saying there was ‘no point’ in buying quality products and using them ‘as single-use plastic’.
“I can barely afford one,” one mother wrote.
“My son’s finally broke after three years, which I think is a pretty good thing. Can’t you just order the top part?’ another argued.
“Why do you need thirteen for two children?” asked a mother.
Another said: ‘I have three children. They each have their own color and that’s it.’
But others didn’t see the problem with having spare lunch boxes.
“I have all the colors and only two children – they take a different one every day,” said one mother.
“Who knows when they’ll lose their lunchbox?” another argued.
One mother said, “I only have two children and they both go to daycare and are fed. I still buy 10+ lunch boxes because I want to.”
‘I only have one child and have five mini boxes, four snack boxes and five large bento boxes. I make (food) ahead for the week and just add the fresh stuff for the day of. This FIFO mom needs to make the morning streamlined while she’s away!’ said another.
