Disturbing messages daughter sent before killing her mum in Melbourne
EXCLUSIVE
A young woman who stabbed her mother to death before being shot dead by police had texted her ex saying she was ‘stressed’ and had had the ‘most dramatic last year for no reason’.
Joanne Perry, 53, died on Friday evening when she was stabbed multiple times in the neck and chest by her daughter Carly Pirronelli, 26, in Lower Plenty, 16km northeast of Melbourne’s CBD.
A police officer was forced to shoot Pirronelli after she refused to put down the knife.
On Monday, chilling text messages that Pirronelli sent to her ex-partner, Tyler Jackman, emerged.
The messages sent on January 31 explained that she “can’t deal with things.”
“I’m finding it hard to even deal with it because I’m not used to drama and it causes me a lot of stress,” she wrote.
“It feels like there are so many games going on that I can’t deal with.”
Pirronelli added that she had not spoken to anyone for a long time before Mr Jackman asked if they wanted to have a cup of coffee.
Daily Mail Australia can now reveal Perry was scared of her wayward daughter, who had a troubled past including home invasion and drug charges.
A neighbor with close ties to the family said Pirronelli’s mental health had spiraled out of control in recent weeks as her worried mother fought in vain to get her into a psychiatric ward.

The woman, who asked not to be identified, said she almost called the police herself in the weeks leading up to Friday night’s tragedy.
“I’ve heard in the last few weeks that there’s a lot of housekeeping going on,” she said.
‘They were always shouting. Sometimes I also heard a man’s voice. A few times I wanted to call the police, but I didn’t know exactly where it came from.’
The neighbor claimed that others living near the house had called police about their concerns.
‘Apparently it has already been reported several times. There are mental health issues with the daughter, so it’s a very sad story,” she said.

The neighbor claimed she heard a person she believed to be Pirronelli repeatedly making threats against her mother.
“I had heard threats before, that’s why I wanted to call the police,” she said.
Some of those threats include threats to set people on fire.
“I’d heard that fire before,” she said.
“It just sounded very threatening.”
Police were taken to Kett St Friday around 6:30 p.m. after reports that Pirronelli tried to set her mother on fire.
Upon arrival, officers said they were challenged by Pirronelli, who was armed with a knife and, despite being told to drop the weapon, continued to plunge the knife into her mother’s torso and neck.
Pirronelli, who was on bail on an unrelated matter and the subject of an apprehended violence warrant, was shot by a police officer and died at the scene.
The neighbor claimed that police fired at least six shots during the horrific incident.
“I suspect some of those were probably warning shots, given what they encountered,” she said.

It is understood that Pirronelli’s family had tried desperately to get help for her, but they struggled to get any help.
‘She had major psychological problems and they tried to put her in an institution. “She has been manic or psychotic for the past few weeks and attempts have been made to bond,” the neighbor said.
‘It’s so hard to bond with people and now she’s dead too. It’s all very sad. Often these people are on their own. It’s pretty scary.’
The neighbor claimed arguments echoing from the property had increased significantly this year.
‘Once or twice I just thought it was a bit worrying. This is a pretty quiet area, so it was obvious,” she said.
“I’m sure when she was in a good place she was a sweet daughter, but when you’re psychotic you’re out of control.”
Mr. Jackman told it news.com.au that Pirronelli “did something terrible, but she was at a breaking point… I can’t believe she’s gone.”

Just over a year ago, Pirronelli appeared in the Melbourne Magistrates Court charged with home invasion.
She allegedly entered a house in Kingsbury in the company of one or more people on February 21, 2023, while another person was in the house.
It was further alleged that Pirronelli entered the Lowell Avenue home with ‘the intention of assaulting a person’ and she was also charged with possession of cannabis.
The home invasion charges were eventually dropped in August after prosecutors withdrew their case.
Magistrate Belinda Franjic said only the cannabis possession charge would be prosecuted.
The magistrate said she took into account Pirronelli’s “lack of prior conviction or findings of guilt.”
“The criminal charge, the residential burglary charge, has been dropped by the prosecutor,” she said.
Before the horrific double tragedy, the mother and daughter appeared to have a close and happy relationship.
In photos posted to their social media profiles, they can be seen smiling broadly with their arms around each other.
On one occasion they even joked about what their graves would look like.
Pirronelli tagged her mother in the comments section of a Facebook post that showed a grave with cannabis plants growing out of it and the caption “What my grave will look like.”
“Next to your cascade bottles (and) marks guitar,” Pironelli wrote with a smiley face emoji.
“OMG haha,” her mother responded.

Speaking about the shooting of Pirronelli, acting chief inspector of Victoria Police Scott Colson said the officer had “no choice” but to shoot.
“It’s a terrible situation,” he said. “They (police) don’t go to work expecting to draw their firearms and be involved in these types of tragedies.”
Chief Inspector Scott Colson said he felt “comfortable” with the officer’s actions when confronted with the “terrible situation.”
“(Police) were confronted with the daughter stabbing the mother and called on the daughter to drop the knife,” he said.
“However, she continued to stab the mother… tragically, both the mother and daughter died at the scene.”
