The family of a young woman killed in a horror bus crash in Brisbane’s busy CBD have revealed the teenager’s heartbreaking final message.
Tia Cameron was killed when an out-of-control shuttle bus drove over a crowded sidewalk around 5 p.m. Friday, pinning the 18-year-old against the wall.
Mrs Cameron’s devastated aunt, Karma Te Awithu, said the teenager had left a beauty salon and was heading off to have cocktails with her relative when tragedy struck.
Tia Cameron was killed about 5pm on Friday when an out-of-control commuter bus veered onto a crowded sidewalk, pinning the 18-year-old against the wall.
“We just feel like she has been stolen from us,” Ms Te Awithu told the Courier Mail.
‘She messaged me at 4pm saying she was getting her eyelashes done and asked if I wanted to meet up for a quick cocktail before she went home.’
Ms Te Awithu realized the teenager was missing and began calling the hospital, while Ms Cameron’s partner contacted police to file a missing person’s report.

It wasn’t until around 11pm that evening that police arrived at a relative’s home to deliver the heartbreaking news.
“She was only 18 and had her whole life ahead of her,” Ms Te Awithu said.
‘She was beautiful, outgoing and unique, truly unique. She loved the beach, the Gold Coast, fashion and… was very close to all her family.”

The Brisbane City Council bus is believed to have been traveling from Ann St to Edward St in the city’s CBD when it lost control.
In a statement, police said the bus driver and four passengers suffered minor injuries and were taken to a nearby hospital for examination.
Witnesses described chaotic scenes to The Courier Mail, with rocks reportedly flying as the bus mounted the curb before crashing into the building.
