A toddler is fighting for his life in hospital after the child almost drowned in a swimming pool at home.
The boy was in the swimming pool of a property in Nelly Bay on Magnetic Island, located off the coast of Queensland, when he got into trouble about 6.30pm on Tuesday.
Paramedics rushed to the scene after reports that the boy was having difficulty breathing.

The toddler was taken to Townsville University Hospital in a critical condition.
A Queensland Health spokesperson told Daily Mail Australia the boy remains in a critical condition.
