Single-engine plane crashes along Tennessee highway, killing those aboard and closing lanes

NASHVILLE, Tenn. — Police in Nashville say several people were killed after a small plane crashed near a highway Monday night, closing several lanes.

Metro Nashville police say the single-engine plane crashed just off Interstate 40 in the western part of the city. Police said several people on board are dead. Police posted a photo of the charred wreckage of the small plane in the grass along the highway.

Transportation officials said the eastbound lanes of I-40 were closed.
