I made $100,000 in one week after Kourtney Kardashian raved about my ‘miracle’ buy – and now I can’t keep it on the shelves
A mother of two and small business owner made $100,000 in one week when reality TV star Kourtney Kardashian recommended her pregnancy products on Instagram.
Lara Henderson, 35, from Papamoa, New Zealand, was cleaning the kitchen after breakfast one morning when she received an urgent text message from her sister.
The message read: ‘Holy s***, we made it to Kourt’s hospital bag. She has used it and recommends it to us!’ The megastar shared it first on her Poosh page and then on her own personal account.
Lara initially immediately felt ‘overwhelmed’ and noticed a huge spike in sales and could ‘barely keep up’ with demand.
“We had to start our next production quickly to ensure we had enough stock,” she told FEMAIL.
Sales in the US also increased by a whopping 400 percent, with a bottle of the brand’s best-selling Belly Oil sold every five minutes.

Lara launched the brand after quickly becoming frustrated with the lack of natural pregnancy-specific body products on the market
When Lara was pregnant with her first child Levi in 2018, she quickly became frustrated with the lack of natural pregnancy-specific body products on the market.
Her skin was being ‘pushed to its limits’ and she wouldn’t have to find the right product to meet her needs.
“I was not only overwhelmed by conflicting information about ingredient safety, but also shocked by the amount of synthetic ingredients and fragrances used,” she said.
“This combined with an outdated market landscape that did not take into account the complexities of motherhood, especially around the physical, psychological and emotional changes women go through, led me to lead the change.”
She launched three years later, in May 2021 Pure mom offers a range of skin care for pregnancy and postpartum.
The decision took $65,000 of her own savings, but it paid off because she now considers Kourtney Kardashian a fan.

Kourtney packed both the Pure Mama $69 Belly Oil and $40 Nipple Butter into her hospital bag.
“We know she is very particular about what she wears on and in her body, so it was extremely important that she recommended us to her team at Poosh,” Lara said.
“Many people have asked if we paid for the recommendation, but we didn’t, which makes it even more authentic.
Three sets of Pure Mama products were sent to Kourtney: one to her home, one to Kris and Kylie’s offices, and one to one of her apartments in Los Angeles.
“We’re not entirely sure if she received all three or not, or which one had the biggest impact, but somewhere in between all that she opened it and started using it on her journey,” Lara added.

When asked what it takes to boost a business, especially as a busy mom, Lara said perseverance, perseverance and patience are “everything.”

“Embrace change and pivot when necessary. Listen to your customers and adapt. You will continue to get better, but it won’t be easy,” she said.
But overall, just start.
“Put one foot in front of the other and keep moving forward. You will have to take quite a few risks and learn that mistakes don’t hold you back. It’s all part of the journey,” Lara added.
‘If it was easy, everyone would do it. Be willing to give it your all and make many sacrifices.”
