Chelsea legend Frank Lampard has teased a return to management, ten months after his disastrous spell as caretaker boss of his former club.

Lampard returned to the Stamford Bridge dugout midway through last season following the dismissals of Thomas Tuchel and Graham Potter.

But it proved to be a miserable period as the Blues won just one of his eleven games in charge. The 45-year-old has since appeared on punditry TV and often commented that he enjoys spending time with his family.

Lampard even claims that he is enjoying the quality time with his children, but stated that he is now keeping his eyes peeled for his next role.

“I enjoy being with the family and I look forward to coming back one day.” He told talkSPORT. “Hopefully something will come up that feels good for me. I would like to get back to work, but as I repeat: I enjoy family life.

‘It is an intensive job, so when you are no longer here, it is nice to appreciate that you are with all my children.

‘You love the work. you understand its hardships in modern times. I have enjoyed all the clubs I have worked with.

“They’ve all been big challenges for different reasons. I enjoy working with players, improving players and the team, so let’s see what comes next.’

The former England international’s first managerial position came at Derby County, with whom he progressed to the Championship play-off final in 2018.

Remarkably, that was enough for the Blues to get going a year later as they prepared for a transfer ban season.

Lampard played a key role in facilitating the first-team integration of youngsters such as Tammy Abraham, Fikayo Tomori, Mason Mount and Reece James, although he was eventually released after 18 months on his contract.

In January 2022, he made the risky decision to take charge of relegation-threatened Everton, but guided them to safety to remain in the role for a few more months before being sacked just a year later.
