This is the shocking moment a burning man runs down a London street before bystanders help put out the flames.

Footage appearing online shows the man screaming as he runs down a street in Edgware Road with bright orange flames on his chest.

He then falls to the ground and witnesses help him pat him down, allowing him to put out the fire.

Paramedics said they rushed to the scene last night before taking the man to a major trauma centre.

Police have confirmed that the incident is not being treated as suspicious.

A spokesperson for the London Ambulance Service told MailOnline: ‘We were called at 7.01pm yesterday (February 28) to reports of an incident at the junction of Edgware Road and Connaught Street, W2.

“We sent an ambulance crew and a paramedic to the scene in a rapid response car.

“Our first medics arrived on scene within about four minutes.

“We treated a patient at the scene before transferring him to a major trauma center.”

A Met Police spokesperson added: ‘Police were called by LAS at 7pm on Wednesday, February 28, to reports of a man on fire in Edgware Road at the junction with Connaught Street.

‘He was taken to hospital. His condition is not considered life-threatening.

“The circumstances are not being treated as suspicious.”

MailOnline contacted the London Fire Brigade, who confirmed they were not present at the incident.
