Married At First Sight 2024: Richard breaks down in floods of tears as he and Andrea have their first fight as their loved ones step in to intervene
Married At First Sight star Richard Sauerman broke down in tears as he and his wife Andrea Thompson had their first argument during Tuesday’s episode.
The couple got off to a fairytale start after meeting for the first time at the altar, and have gone from strength to strength since.
However, they reached a hurdle after Andrea, 51, felt ‘disrespected’ by Richard, 62, over comments he made during the second commitment ceremony about their intimacy.
She admitted that she had put up a wall and the couple got into an argument because Andrea spent more than two hours talking to her friends on the phone instead of being with him.
Richard admitted he felt she was no longer attracted to him when he broke down in tears when Andrea’s girlfriend Kate Maree and his daughter Roxy tried to advise the couple.

The couple recently hit a hurdle after Andrea, 51, felt ‘disrespected’ by Richard, 62, over comments he made during the second commitment ceremony about their intimacy
He explained how he felt Andrea wasn’t ‘trying’ to move on with him and said he felt ‘let down’ by her behavior as he struggled to break through her ‘wall’.
Speaking to their loved ones about the difficulties, Richard revealed: ‘I feel a bit sad, it’s been a tough day for both of us, and a tough day for me. I just want to say that I hope that your coming here will be a positive intervention for us.’
He continued, “We started with a bang, it was a real high, and then it kind of disappeared. Andie admitted that there is a wall when it comes to romance and intimacy with me, and I love her more than she loves me. I don’t understand what’s going on.’
When asked why things had taken a downward turn after such a strong start, Andrea was honest about her thoughts on Richard speaking ‘inappropriately’ during the commitment ceremony.
She said, “Roxy, it’s your dad and it’s awkward, but during the second commitment ceremony your dad said some very inappropriate things. He was very open about sharing our intimacy and the way he said some things, I just went – I felt disrespected.
After Andrea admitted she had put up a ‘wall’, Richard said he felt she was no longer attracted to him, breaking down in tears as his daughter Roxy comforted him.
Richard spoke to his loved ones about the difficulties and revealed: ‘I feel a bit sad, it’s been a tough day for both of us, and a tough day for me’
“So I put a block in, put up a little wall, but I don’t want it up and I was in the process of taking it down.
“I’m here, I’m trying and Richie was cold to me and told me I wasn’t trying, and I went crazy just like me!”
From their argument the night before, Richard broke down in tears as he admitted in a heartbreaking moment that he felt like Andrea didn’t like him anymore.
Through tears, he said, “She basically spent the evening alone, doing her own thing and talking to her friends, so I don’t know what’s different, but it seems to be the same. From my point of view, Andie is no longer interested in me at all.’
However, with the help of their loved ones, the couple took steps forward when Andrea admitted that she “adores” Richard and wanted to try to “fix” things.

Richard’s daughter Roxy shed some positive light, telling them, “If last night is the only big fight that happened, then that’s not a bad thing.”
Richard said: ‘I see a future in this,’ while Andrea added: ‘I want to give it a try because the man is a beautiful man.’
