The infuriating act at Taylor Swift Eras tour shows in Australia that ‘ruined’ the nights of thousands: ‘Thank god it’s over now’
Australian Swifties are calling out ‘disrespectful’ concertgoers who ruined their Eras show experience by getting too drunk.
Fans reported seeing people sitting next to them get so drunk that they had to leave before the concert started, spilling drinks on others and even throwing up on fellow attendees.
During Taylor Swift’s seven Australian shows, dozens of stories were shared online about drunk people ‘ruining’ some fans’ evenings and others even considering selling their tickets early.
However, most said they thought the drunk gamblers were just an example of a “few bad apples” saying they had had a “great” experience in a sober crowd.
‘Hot tip for fans! Please don’t drink too much and a) don’t vomit on the people sitting in front of you, b) let your friends drive you away with your shoes missing before the show has even started,” one woman said after Saturday’s show.
Taylor Swift fans have slammed concertgoers for ‘wasting’ their tickets by getting drunk at the Eras shows. One person said they threw up before the star took the stage
“You ruined your evening, your friend’s, and worse, some poor, unsuspecting fans (and those were on two separate occasions).”
One ticket holder said a woman threw up twice during the show, while another said someone spilled eight drinks on her and the woman sitting next to her and their belongings.
‘She kept hitting us on the head when we were dancing drunk, and fell asleep halfway through the concert,” she said.
Another said something similar happened to her, where she “vomited everywhere” during opening act Sabrina Carpenter’s set.
‘Hardly any help from the staff. “I couldn’t exchange friendship bracelets at night because I smelled so bad and stayed away,” she reported.
“Impressive that someone could whip that out before the headline act even starts,” someone replied.
One mother said a woman was so drunk she couldn’t stand on her own and had to be supported by her friend for the entire three-hour show.
“That was after she spilled her drinks on everyone around her and almost punched us all in the face with her arms swinging all over the place. The woman next to her threatened to get security if she didn’t sit down,” she alleged.
Many were shocked by the ‘terrible’ stories, while most attendees said they had seen no incidents of drunken behavior and said the crowd was ‘down to earth’ and ‘great’.
‘My daughter almost got drunk from the fumes coming from the woman behind her! Pretty sad that someone can’t enjoy a concert without it being plastered over!’
Someone said they saw two women being escorted out of the venue because they were drunk and sick in the stands.
‘A nice man helped and grabbed a bin bag and some wipes etc. It took forever for the staff to come but eventually they did it with a mop. It stunk!’ she said.
‘If there is alcohol, that is not an issue and it should not be allowed to be so drunk at such a concert, with all ages. If the lady was sick or ill I think this could be excused. We really sympathized with the ladies with vomit in their hair and clothes.’
One of them said the outfit they had spent hours working on was ruined by drinks spilled by a drunken customer.
Many were shocked by the ‘terrible’ stories, while some were deterred from attending the shows they had tickets for.
‘This makes me not want to go now. It gives me serious anxiety. I’m so sorry this happened to you. Some people are just disrespectful and disgusting. In my opinion they should be fined,” said one Swiftie.
“Why is it even necessary to get so drunk?” asked a second.
‘I love a drink at a concert (one or two), but at Taylor?! You better believe I’ll be sober! The atmosphere will be better than any drink! And how can you miss a song to go to the bar?’ a third replied.
“You probably wouldn’t even remember the show!” Have two or three people to relax and stuff, but that’s so gross and ruins the experience for the people around you,” one person agreed.
But others reported seeing no incidents of drunken behavior.
‘I’m just sharing my experience to calm the anxiety for people who may be feeling nervous. Our section 132 was great and everyone was responsible and caring. We all sang and danced all night without any drama. No one was wasted or irresponsible,” one woman responded.
“We went last night and were actually talking this morning about how unusually down-to-earth the crowd was there. No lines at the bars, lots of parents with young children. It felt very healthy,” wrote another.
‘I went on Saturday evening and as people were drinking around us, everyone was just soaking up the atmosphere. No one was OTT intoxicated and it was such an amazing experience,” a third added.
