AT&T will give $5 to customers hit by cellphone network outage
DALLAS– BEE&T says it will give affected customers $5 each to offset last week’s charges mobile network failure leaving many without service for hours.
The Dallas-based company said on its website that customers will receive the $5 credit to their account within two billing cycles. The credit does not apply to AT&T Business, prepaid service or Cricket, the cheap wireless service. BEE&T said prepaid customers will have options available to them if they were affected, although T did not elaborate on what those options might be.
The outage knocked out cell phone service for thousands of its users in the US starting early Thursday before being restored. BEE&T blamed the incident on a coding error, without elaborating further, and said it was not the result of a cyber attack.
