The Warriors-Hornets game on Friday night erupted into a scuffle after a late layup attempt by Lester Quinones, with the game already decided – with Draymond Green running into Grant Williams on and off the court.

The situation stemmed from Quinones deciding to shoot the ball with the Warriors at 11 with 12 seconds left. In fact, the game (which ended in a 97-84 victory for the Warriors) was so over that Golden State coach Steve Kerr and Charlotte coach Steve Clifford were already shaking hands.

Quinones’ attempt was ruled a made basket after a Miles Bridges goaltender, but the Hornets star made his displeasure clear when he bumped into Quinones afterwards.

From then on, things escalated much further as players from both teams rushed forward, with Grant Williams in particular getting into Quinones’ face and inserting himself into the situation.

Quinones appeared to call the former Celtics and Mavs a “b***h” several times, while Draymond Green later also appeared to shout “f*** you” at his opponent.

It also appeared that Green called Williams a ‘p***ya**’.

Kerr was visibly stunned by the incident and held his arms in the air.

Quinones and Williams were both ejected afterward, while Green and Stephen Curry featured make it right with Bridges and Seth Curry after the game.

Still Green had words for Williams after the match.

“Grant Williams has got to quit, man,” he said at his post-match press conference. “It’s definitely going wrong for him to be this tough guy. He’s a really nice guy. And for some reason he keeps trying to take the unlikely side and I have to tell you it’s not always fun here.

‘It’s not always a good time. I don’t know man, he has to find out. By talking too much, you left Dallas feeling like you were overdoing it. And he’s talking too much now.’

Green, known for his history of suspensions and expulsions, has missed 17 games due to suspension this season, including 12 after punching Jusuf Nurkic in the face.

Williams, meanwhile, was traded by the Mavs at the deadline, with ESPN’s Tim MacMahon saying afterwards on the ‘Hope Collectivepodcast that he “misled a lot of people” in Dallas.

It remains to be seen whether Williams and Quinones will be suspended by the NBA.
