GWS Giants skipper Toby Greene and partner Georgia Stirton have welcomed their first baby, sharing a touching video on social media of the newcomer’s wriggling legs.

The proud parents posted the sweet video clip to Instagram over the weekend, with Greene writing “new best friend” alongside a love heart emoji.

The baby girl arrived on Thursday, with the Giants star missing his club’s friendly against the Swans so he could be ready for the birth.

News that the child was on the way became public at the 2023 Brownlow Medal event.

Greene recently opened up about parenthood and said he was confident his partner would be a “super mom.”

“I’ll make a lot of calls to my mom and friends who have had babies and just go from there,” he said.

“I don’t think I’ve thought about it too much, I’m just absorbing it. When it does happen, I’m sure it will be a big shock to the system.

“(Life) will be a little bit harder, but a lot of guys have done it during my time in the AFL. It’s something you have to deal with, you may lose a few hours of sleep here and there, but that’s okay.

‘I’ve done a full pre-season so the body is good to go. It’s just a matter of me managing if I have to, and I’m sure Georgia will be super accommodating as well.

“She’ll be a great mother.”

Greene also said he hasn’t been thinking about footy much lately.

“Honestly, I haven’t thought much about the season,” Greene said. ‘It was more the run-up to having the baby.

‘Hopefully the birth goes smoothly and everyone is happy and healthy and then we can think a little more about the first round.

“But I’m sure the boys will come in handy on Thursday and start playing our way.

‘I’m still working on it. It’s certainly more nerve-wracking for Georgia. But everything will be fine on Thursday, so hopefully everything will be fine.”

The Giants will get their first chance at the reigning premiers as they host Collingwood in the ‘Opening Round’ on March 9 at GIANTS Stadium.
