Two-time Super Bowl-winning coach Eric Bieniemy will be UCLA’s new offensive coordinator.
ESPN reported this on Saturday that Bieniemy will sign a two-year contract to become the Bruins’ associate head coach and OC.
The hiring of Bieniemy, who won two Super Bowls on the Kansas City Chiefs staff, is a major coup for new UCLA head coach DeShaun Foster.
Bieniemy was the offensive coordinator for the Washington Commanders last season and was expected to land a new job in the NFL.
He interviewed this offseason for the Commandant head coaching job, which ultimately went to Dan Quinn, and for two other offensive coordinator jobs.

The 54-year-old said a team offered him their assistant head coach/running backs position, but he declined in favor of returning to college football.
Bieniemy, who grew up in California, was an assistant coach at UCLA from 2003 to 2005. He also served as Colorado’s offensive coordinator from 2011 to 2012.
“Southern California,” he said in an email Saturday. ‘I went to high school there. I started my career here in the league (with the Chargers). It’s obviously great to be back with the Bruins, where I was previously.’
“I have had countless conversations and interviews with many teams, and I have been applauded and praised.
“I can’t say why certain decisions were or weren’t made, but it had nothing to do with a lack of anything on my side.
“My self-worth, worth, integrity, personality and masculinity will never be questioned or compromised. It’s not always about money either. Everything in life is often about timing.
“At this time in my life, this opportunity gives me the pleasure to continue being a creator and leader of men, doing what I love, following my passion and my dreams without compromising who I am as a man. ‘
