Premier League: Live score, team news and updates as Manchester United look to continue good run of form plus updates from Oliver Glasner’s first game in charge of Crystal Palace and the rest of Saturday’s fixtures
They face a Brighton side today who have won two of their last three games and are well placed in seventh place, not an easy game.
Sean Dyche’s are winless in their last eight Premier League matches, with the last time they achieved a win coming on December 16 – a 2-0 victory away at Burnley.
They seem to be in big trouble right now. However, when they were last in a similar position, they came to high-flying Brighton and defeated them 5-1.
Is that on the menu again? I doubt it.
Glasner keeps his promise
Henry Clark at Selhurst Park:
New Crystal Palace boss Oliver Glasner promised not to change too much, too quickly at the club. It looks like he will keep his word as he names an unchanged team for his first game on the sidelines.
Palace remain without the injured Eberechi Eze and Michael Olise for this afternoon’s match against second-place Burnley at Selhurst Park.
Academy graduates galore for United
Man United have always been great at bringing in players from the youth ranks.
Today they start with three academy graduates, which cost them a total of just £325,000 to bring to the club.
Will they do the work for them today?
Enciso on the bench for Brighton!
Burnley start eleventh and face Palace
Glasner’s first Palace XI!
It is an unchanged starting line-up for Crystal Palace.
How differently they will play under Oliver Glasner, I can’t wait to find out.
It seems like he wants to see how he can develop the team he already has.
Forest’s line-up against Villa
Martinez makes 150th PL appearance
It’s a big day for Emi Martinez, who will make his 150th Premier League appearance today.
It’s been a long journey for the Argentine goalkeeper, but he’s getting better and better as he gets older.
Villa are unchanged from last week’s 2-1 win over Fulham.
Bassey returns for Fulham
Calvin Bassey has returned to Fulham’s starting line-up after an absence from the African Cup of Nations.
He is one of SIX changes to the side that lost 2-1 at home to Aston Villa last week.
Forson STARTS for United
A big day awaits 19-year-old Omari Forson, who is set to make a first Premier League start for Manchester United.
He replaces Rasmus Hojlund, while Victor Lindelof replaces the injured Luke Shaw at left back.
Does this starting XI get you United fans excited?
What are your predictions for the starting XI?
Team news only lasts five minutes.
The question on everyone’s lips is who will start in place of Rasmus Hojlund for Manchester United?
According to reports, Omari Forson will make his first Premier League start for the club. What a moment that would be.
Who will Oliver Glasner pick in his first XI?
There will be some interesting lineup choices today!
Will Fulham laugh at full-time?
Fulham’s players certainly feel comfortable on the Old Trafford ground.
When I see photos like this I always wonder what was said.
Either way, they’ll have to get to work today if they want to get anything from Manchester United.
I’m sure they won’t laugh if they don’t have anything.
Glasner’s Premier League arc
A lot has changed at Selhurst Park in the past week: they have a new man at the helm.
Palace fans will welcome their new boss Oliver Glasner with open arms in their match against Burnley today.
You couldn’t ask for a much better match to start with: Burnley at home, which is in 19th place with just 13 points.
However, the Eagles cannot boast a good record against the Clarets and have won just one of their last five meetings. That did happen this season, so that’s a more positive sign.
Will the Eagles bounce that new manager?
United’s crazy unbeaten streak against Fulham
It shouldn’t be Hojlund, no problem, right?
Judging by these stats, I don’t think United fans have anything to worry about today.
The Red Devils are currently riding an incredible 18-match unbeaten run against Fulham, including 15 wins, dating back to March 2010.
The last time United tasted defeat at the hands of the Cottagers was in December 2009, when they were embarrassed 3-0 by West London at Craven Cottage.
Fulham’s current away record is also pretty raunchy, so I expect a home win here.
However, United always provides some kind of surprise.
Hojlund’s major injury
Just when Rasmus Hojlund has finally found his rhythm, he is struck by an injury.
Football can be cruel, we all know that, and that’s how it must feel now for Hojlund, who will be on the sidelines for two to three weeks.
After struggling to find his feet in the Premier League and only scoring his first league goal on Boxing Day, the Danish striker finally found form, scoring seven goals in his last six games.
However, United will have to make do without him today, which is a huge miss.
Erik ten Hag’s team has occasionally struggled this season without a recognized number nine, will Fulham take advantage of that?
What is on?
What are the four games we have in store for you today?
Aston Villa vs Nottingham Forest
Brighton vs Everton
Crystal Palace vs Burnley
Manchester United vs Fulham
There are certainly some nice matchups. I haven’t mentioned it before, but I’m also looking forward to following Brighton against Everton – it always results in goals.
If you’re going to a game, let us know which one in the comments!
Welcome!
Four days is too long to not see Premier League football, so I’m glad it’s back.
We’ve got another cracker of a day in store for you, with four kick-offs at 3pm before Bournemouth take on Manchester City at 5.30pm and an unusual match kick-off at 8pm as Arsenal take on Newcastle.
It feels weird not having an early kick-off this week, I don’t really know what to do with myself but I’m sure the rest of the day will be packed with great footie.
For starters, it will be interesting to see how Manchester United fare today without their goal machine Rasmus Hojlund, who will miss the game against Fulham through injury.
I’m also curious to see how Crystal Palace do in their first game under new manager Oliver Glasner – I bet it’s going to be great.
Since there is no kick-off at 12:30, I have been looking forward to these games all day.
