Fox commentator Raymond Arroyo sparks fury by claiming Trump’s gold high tops will help win the black vote because ‘they love sneakers’

  • The commentator disrupted this past weekend by claiming that Trump’s new sneaker line was the former president’s way of appealing to black culture
  • The former president released a limited edition line of gold Trump high-top sneakers that sold out shortly after they went on sale

Fox News commentator Raymond Arroyo is under fire for claiming Donald Trump’s new limited edition sneakers will win the votes of black America.

The frequent “Ingraham Angle” guest said during a panel last weekend that Trump’s gold MAGA high-top sneakers would help the former president gain the attention and support of Black Americans who “love sneakers.”

As “black support for Joe Biden declines, these (the sneakers) connect with black America — because they love sneakers,” Arroyo said on Fox’s “The Big Weekend Show.”

‘They love sneakers. This is a big problem, especially in the inner city,” he continued, adding that he believes Trump is reaching the black community “at a level that defies politics and is above politics.”

The limited edition Trump high-tops sold for almost $400 before they sold out

“Trump understands culture like no politician I’ve ever seen,” he concluded, indicating that the loud shoes, which retailed for about $400 before they sold out, cut to the heart of black culture.

“So if you have Trump rolling out his sneaker line, they’re like, ‘wait a minute, this is cool,’” he said.

Arroyo’s comments took aim online as many keyboard warriors labeled him a racist who played on destructive stereotypes.

“Basically he’s saying that all blacks are the same and that they love cheap, tacky sneakers. Call me crazy, but I think most people of any color would prefer a pair of Jordans,” one X user wrote.

Another commented that Arroyo is like “completely forgetful‘ the way he commented was racist.

“His assumptions about black people, which suggest that their political decisions are based on trivial or materialistic reasons, such as a love of sneakers, are both inaccurate and disrespectful. His simplistic stereotypes are inappropriate and offensive,” another user wrote.

A plethora of other online commenters took the opportunity to mock Arroyo’s hairstyle – the majority believing it looked like it had been spray-painted onto his head.

On the contrary, however, the opponents of the Arroyo, TMZ points outare the feelings of popular rapper and YouTuber Peezywho voiced his support for the sneaker line to his impressive online audience.

In a recent video, the rapper made his political allegiance clear by saying, “F**k Joe Biden, I rock with Trump.”

He added a “F**k Kamala Harris” so the audience was 100 percent clear where he stands.

Additionally, he put out a call for a size 13 pair of the sold-out gold “Never Surrender” sneaker, which he apparently would like to wear in support of his chosen 2024 candidate.
