Beyonce goes NAKED under a coat as she shares family history that inspired her haircare brand: ‘It stems from growing up in my mother’s salon’
Beyoncé has made her mark as a singer, actress, producer and clothing designer and now she is embarking on a new business venture.
The 42-year-old artist, who talked about her battle with psoriasis in her youth, launched her own hair care line, Cécred, on Tuesday.
The Grammy winner details her family history in hair care as she models a series of dazzling looks in a cover shoot Essence March/April issue of the magazine.
The photo shoot includes many different hair looks, illustrating the Halo artist’s claim that her new brand is good for all hair types and styles.

The publication offers two different covers for the issue, one featuring the Pretty Hurts artist’s long, blonde hair styled straight and wrapped around her neck like a scarf, while Beyoncé wears a cerulean blue top.

The versatile artist, who is taking a second step into the country music genre, said some of her earliest memories are from her mother Tina Knowles’ hair salon.
‘I saw her washing and trimming her hair, transforming women, making them feel very good. Looking back, it was more than just a hair appointment: it was therapy,” the Billboard Music Award winner recalls.
While working at the hair salon, the once introverted young women decided she wanted to pursue a different future.
“It was in her salon that I realized my dreams of becoming an artist, inspired by one of her clients who happened to be an opera singer,” she explained.
‘I was captivated by her stories about a recent trip to Germany. With awe, I distinctly remember telling my mother that I wanted to be just like her client.”
“That is my basis,” said the My Power singer.
‘I think a lot of my bold experimentation with hair as an artist comes from my inspiration through art and sculpture; getting creative with braids; figuring out new techniques; and exploring ways to maintain hair growth with protective styles and wigs while still feeling fantastic. It all comes from my experiences growing up in my mother’s salon.”

The creative artist talked about how she came up with the name for her new company.
“Allowing yourself to be taken care of, especially for Black women, who are always taking care of everyone else, is all sacred. So I took the end of my name, Cé, and made it the beginning of the word sacred, to create Cécred.”
Beyoncé worked with her mother on the project. Tina, 70, learned the hair trade from her own mother.
“What an honor to be able to do something so special with my mother and share it with the world,” she said.
‘This is meaningful. She is a visionary and a brilliant woman and has worked so hard on this brand with me.”
“Honoring the heritage and wisdom passed down from generation to generation, and blending it with science and technology, is part of this lineage,” she argued.
“It was important that we borrowed some of our past and brought it into the future.”
Tina participated in her daughter’s photo shoot, which represented the journey the two took together to take this next big step.
“Hair has always been a really big part of our lives,” says Tina. “Just as fashion saved our family, hair is how we made a living.”

“Black culture has had it from the beginning: If you could do some hair, you’ll never be broke,” Tina recalled. ‘I told my children that. My mother told me that. So it’s just our legacy, and this full-circle moment feels amazing.”

Beyoncé has been able to learn from some of the best hairstylists in the world, and she realizes that hair isn’t for everyone.
‘We can wear our hair natural, straight, braids, braids and wigs. There is power in self-expression and in feeling that we are free to appear as we wish, in whatever hair we choose, she said.
“For me, joy comes from making myself a priority and making my hair a priority. It is very important to me to make time for the sacred rituals of self-care.’
