XCOM-’em-up Xenonauts 2 gets new planes and weapons in a new update
Xenonauts 2 is an old-fashioned one XCOM-esque putting you in charge of a task force responsible for protecting the world from an alien threat. Although the strategy game is still in early access, it is about to receive a brand new update, which brings with it a lot of new content.
In a press release to Ny Breaking Gaming, producer Hood Horse revealed that the latest update, patch 1.3, would introduce a host of new features, “bringing new weapons and threats to the forefront.”
Thanks to the new patch, the alien menace will start using Cruiser-class UFOs to terrorize the people of Earth. Equipped with deadly fusion weapons, they will pose a serious threat. However, people also get their share of new toys. Patch 1.3 brings Hover Tanks, as well as new types of dropships and interceptors for the Xenonauts. Furthermore, the press release indicates that the fusion weapons on these alien cruisers are salvageable.
“Those new fusion weapons look nice,” Hood Horse teases, “it would be a shame if they were captured, reverse-engineered and turned against the aliens.”
Patch 1.3 also brings some new cards, mainly for early game use. If you want to see everything that is on offer, you can take a look at the patch notes on Steam.
Moreover, Xenonauts 2 is available from now until March 4 at a 30% discount. Those looking to get their hands on the game can head over to Steam, GOGor the Epic games store.
Xenonauts is a return to the classic XCOM formula developed in 1994 UFO: enemy unknown from Mythos Games. Although the series received a very successful reboot in the form of XCOM: enemy unknown in 2012 by Firaxis Games, the Xenonauts series aims to capture the feel of those previous titles by offering detailed strategic decision-making and punishing, isometric combat. If you’re looking for a less flashy, but extremely faithful treatment of the more traditional XCOMstyle, we recommend taking a look at the Xenonauts series for yourself.
