Turkish side Besiktas have terminated the contract of a young player after his dating profile was spotted online before spreading on social media.
Emirhan Delibas, 21, has left the club by mutual agreement, although the winger has denied the profile is his and labeled the account as ‘fake’.
Delibas made only two senior appearances before leaving, but progressed through Besiktas’ youth academy, representing them at various age levels.
In a statement, the club said: ‘We have said goodbye to professional footballer Emirhan Delibas by mutual agreement. We wish him success in his future career.’
While the official reasoning behind the decision was not confirmed, it is likely linked to Delibas’ alleged profile on dating app Bumble.

The alleged Bumble page falsely claimed Delibas was 24, despite being 21 years old
His page featured a photo of Delibas wearing Besiktas’ training kit and holding a drink, accompanied by his name and age, although the number incorrectly claimed he was 24.
His description told matchers that he was a footballer for the club, gave his Instagram account and revealed that he was looking for ‘something casual’.
However, in a twist, the player has tried to distance himself from the profile.
In a statement on Instagram, he said: “I reject the defamation of fake accounts and would like to state that my loyalty to my team cannot be questioned.
‘Besiktas is a responsibility for me. Your love has been my greatest motivation.”

Delibas featured briefly in Besiktas’ Super Lig defeat to Kasimpasa in January, playing nine minutes, and also made a brief cameo in the Europa Conference League.
On the last occasion he played five minutes, taking his total to fourteen minutes.
He started his career in the youth ranks at Besiktas in 2010, aged just seven, and progressed through the structure before reaching the first team in 2020.
Delibas also represented Turkey at U-17, U-18 and U-19 levels.
