Kristen Stewart reveals she’s ‘really happy’ with THAT gender-bending Rolling Stone cover where she posed in jock strap

Kristen Stewart says she’s happy with the impression her recent shoot for Rolling Stone made.

The 33-year-old actress, who is on the promotional trail for her new film Love Lies Bleeding, spoke about the reaction to the steamy layout in the magazine when she appeared at a press conference at the Berlinale International Film Festival in Berlin on Sunday.

“The existence of a female body that forces any kind of sexuality on you that is not designed exclusively for straight men is something that people are not very comfortable with and so I am very happy about it,” said the for one Oscar nominated actress. The Hollywood Reporter.

In the image for the magazine, the Los Angeles native was dressed in a jockstrap and basketball shorts as she posed in a run-down gym.

Love Lies Bleeding, a crime thriller from A24 directed by Rose Glass, centers on a romance between Stewart’s character, a gym manager named Lou, and female bodybuilder Jackie (played by Katy O’Brian).

Stewart explained her creative philosophy regarding the photo shoot (which was captured by the publication’s Collier Schorr), adding that she was “loved by the opportunity” to be the main subject of it.

“It’s OK to take different pictures and mix them together in a way that people aren’t used to and don’t want to see, and that’s OK too,” she said. ‘In fact, it is ubiquitous and everywhere. It’s being denied and it’s crazy that more photos like this don’t exist.’

At the press conference, Stewart, who identifies as bisexual, said she feels like “the era of queer films, so emphatically just that, is over — it’s over.”

“Maybe they will happen, but I think things will evolve and move on. It’s just so inherent to the way we all move forward.

The Twilight alum added: “It’s not about making films about the reasons why they’re sidelined, but about people’s actual experiences, what they love, what their desires are, where they come from, where they want to go and, yeah, not feel like you always have to be on a soapbox and be everyone’s spokesperson.”

Stewart said she believed films in the LGBTQ+ genre should be made for the mainstream in an effort to move it forward.

“We can’t keep doing this thing where we tell everyone how to feel, and where we kind of pat each other on the back and get brownie points for providing space for marginalized voices,” Stewart said, “and only in the capacity that only they can talk about that.’

At the press conference, Stewart – who has appeared in films such as Love Me, Crimes of the Future and Spencer in recent years – gave an update on a biopic she is working on, centering on the late author Susan Sontag.

At the press conference, Stewart, who identifies as bisexual, said she feels like “the era of queer films, emphatically, is over.”

“The Sontag thing will be made over such a long period of time,” Stewart said of the creative process.

She described the Sontag project as “a hybrid documentary, research project, experiment, film-within-a-film kind of thing,” adding that “the format is unique” with “kind of an open-ended process.”

Stewart said it had not yet been determined when the project – which began “here at the festival last year” – would be released.

Love Lies Bleeding, which also stars Ed Harris, Dave Franco, Anna Baryshnikov and Jena Malone, hits theaters on March 8.
