‘Condor, Control 2 and Max Payne 1&2 remake all have higher development pace’ thanks to the success of Alan Wake 2
Remedy CEO Tero Virtala’s offer revealed how Alan Wake2 has impacted the studio and the future of other upcoming games in development.
Alan Wake2 was released in late 2024 to great critical success, and has since managed to sell 1.3 million copies as of early February 2024, according to a stock exchange note of Remedy.
“For comparison, Alan Wake2 sold more than 50% more copies in its first two months and more than three times more digital copies than Control did in its first four months,β the memo explains. βA great game can generate excellent long-term sales figures, and we expect this to be the case Alan Wake2 also.”
The memo also mentions two paid DLCs and ongoing updates for it Alan Wake2. This will likely work to support the horror game and the community around it. The latest update, released in late January 2024, included chapter selection and an option to prevent jumpscare images from appearing on your screen.
βWe will continue to develop the game to serve existing fans and attract new players and expect the game to continue to sell well,β Virtala explains. βThe successful launch of Alan Wake2 has supported our other game projects: Condor, Control 2And Max Payne 1 and 2 remake all have a higher development pace thanks to the staff that becomes available Alan Wake2and we expect these projects to reach their next stages of development in the first half of 2024.β
