Katy Perry reveals ‘spiritual messages’ she has received from former manager Martin Kirkup who has died at 75 in an emotional tribute: ‘I hear you Martin’

Katy Perry paid tribute to her former manager Martin Kirkup, who died earlier this month at the age of 75, in an emotional Instagram tribute on Thursday.

As she mourned his death, which occurred unexpectedly while he was on vacation in Hawaii, the 39-year-old superstar explained that she wanted to “respectfully take a moment” to talk about “how special he was and is” to her.

However, the pop star also revealed how she believed she had subsequently received a ‘spiritual’ message from the late music manager, and was able to ‘hear’ him through signs that were not coincidental.

“It took me a while to make this post… something about posting it makes it all final… and even though Martin wasn’t big on social media and the sensationalism of it,” said the Grammy nominee, who recently announced she was quitting American Idol after seven seasons with a lengthy caption.

While speaking about her grief, the mother of one explained that she doesn’t believe anyone dies, but they “just move on to the next dimension.”

“They are no longer here but are now EVERYWHERE ,” Perry wrote.

She then recalled the dynamics of their professional relationship and how she saw him as one of her “protectors.”

“He was vigilant about giving me what I deserved and celebrated the strong-willed woman that I am,” she enthused. “I’ve been fortunate to have an INCREDIBLE team at my side for almost twenty years, before I had (as my Memphis dad would say) a pot to pee in or a window to throw it out!”

She noted that he was one of her managers at Direct Management for almost two decades and described him as the “bulldog” of her team.

‘Martin and I have been able to climb so many beautiful professional mountains and thoroughly enjoy the views together – traveling, tasting, learning, celebrating, leaning into the fullness and beauty of life. Martin left this dimension without any trouble!’ the Roar hitmaker roared.

Three days before his death, Perry said she shared some of her new, unreleased music with him.

“I could tell he was excited about the future, and I was so happy to have that last moment to make him proud in my own small way,” Orlando Bloom’s fiancée said.

Perry concluded, “We didn’t get to physically say goodbye, but I know he knows how much respect and admiration I have for him, and his hearty chuckles and snarky responses continue to echo in my mind.”

After news of his death, Perry said she found comfort in seeing her favorite number, 143, in random places.

‘It’s a number I’ve seen many times since my daughter Daisy was born. It has come at some of my most difficult times to comfort me and it is a constant affirmation that whatever I do or whatever path I take is the right one to follow,” she told her more than 206 million Instagram followers followers.

A day after Kirkup died, Perry said she saw 143s “everywhere.”

“The receipt in the morning was 143, the length of the movie we watched was 143, and to top it all off, the one person who came up to me asking for a photo introduced himself as Martin. What a coincidence, huh?’ she mused.

Perry went on to write that she believes that “angels and loved ones always want to talk to us… if we are willing to listen.”

“The signs are everywhere, we just have to be open to them,” she stated. “So I will remain open and never forget the love, devotion and protection he has given me all these years. What an honor it was to have Martin Kirkup on my team.”

Her caption was shared alongside a number of photos of them taken together during various milestones in her career.

At this time, no cause of death has been released for Kirkup.

He was an integral part of her team and was by her side as she rose to fame with her hit songs, I Kissed a Girl and Hot N Cold.

Over the years, Kirkup also managed Counting Crows, Tracy Chapman, the Go-Go’s, Adam Lambert and many others.

During a 2012 interview, while talking about Perry, he said it didn’t seem “remarkable” to him that she became “tremendously successful,” saying he always knew she would be.

“That’s why we signed her!” Kirkup said. “We really believed in her and felt she had enormous potential.”
