FC Juarez striker Diego Chavez has died at the age of 28 after being involved in a fatal car accident.

TUDN reported that Chavez lost control of his red Volkswagen Beetle and crashed into a pole.

After the collision he was trapped in the car.

His club confirmed Chavez’s death and paid an emotional tribute to their striker on Wednesday.

Chavez was in his second spell at Juarez, having previously been loaned to the club for the 2016/2017 season.

He returned to Juarez last year and made 46 appearances for the club in his two spells, scoring three goals.
