Kansas City Chiefs players were able to walk away from the scene of a mass shooting following their Super Bowl victory parade – with some in particular being a calming presence amid the tragedy.
According to NFL insider Albert Breer, offensive linemen Trey Smith and Austin Reiter and backup quarterbacks Blaine Gabbert and Chris Oladukun all helped calm panicked children.
In particular, Smith “went to an upset kid, gave him the WWE title belt and sat with him until he calmed down.”
The mayor of Kansas City confirmed that all players on the team were safe.
That includes head coach Andy Reid, who hugged a concerned high school student amid the chaos.
