Man City star Phil Foden has revealed the modest amount he pays for his haircut after scoring in the club’s 3-1 win over FC Copenhagen – before wowing TNT pundits by goading Micah Richards during his trips to the hairdresser.
Foden scored Man City’s third and final goal to seal a confident victory in the first leg of the Champions League last 16 tie to cap a fantastic display. He was in good spirits when he spoke to the broadcaster after the match.
The 23-year-old has become a key figure under Pep Guardiola this season. He scored 14 times and provided 10 assists at the Etihad to boost their hopes of another major trophy, while also giving himself a huge chance to make England’s starting XI. Euro 2024 this summer.
And after assessing his performance in Denmark, the subject quickly turned to Foden’s hair after expert Richards noticed he had a ‘fresh trim’ and asked the player how much he pays for a haircut.
“Before you go, who your hairdresser is, because your trim looks pretty fresh, I’m not going to lie,” Richards asked the player.

Foden then replied: ‘I heard you pay a lot for your trim’, leaving Richards and fellow experts Jamie Carragher and Thierry Henry in hot water.
Richards revealed the eye-watering amount he spent on a haircut last year, claiming he spends around £600 a week on three separate trips to the hairdressers.
Presenter Kate Abdo then pressed Foden on how much he was splurging, with the England international response shocking the studio.
‘£20 from the local trader, he said. ‘I swear. I sort it sometimes, but I’ve been going to the same hairdresser since I was eight.’
On a Champions League night last year, Richards explained his staggering expenditure on a trim.
‘How much does my hairdresser cost? €200 per time yes. If I say the most, for example, I’m getting a trim tomorrow for the Champions League and I’m working over the weekend, so I’m getting a trim.

Abdo then explained that three haircuts a week at that price equates to more than £31,000 a year, although Richards insisted this was only during the expert weeks.
Foden spoke to the expert team about his scintillating form, which has seen him score five goals in the past three games.
Asked if he had ever felt more vital, Foden told TNT Sports: ‘I don’t think so. It’s probably the most games I’ve played in a City shirt.
‘If you play every match, I think you can get a lot of rhythm. “I’m feeling good this year and I’m helping the team as best I can.”
Foden believes the key to his impressive performances lies in his consistent run of starts and not Guardiola’s tactical decision to deploy him in central positions.

“Like I said, when you get a series of games, you find your way and you start to make connections with other players,” he added.
‘I started playing in the pocket at first, but today I played wide and did well.’
Foden has typically played on the wings or in the number 10 position since his breakthrough at City, but is more comfortable dictating play as a support point.
“I just feel alive,” Foden explained. ‘I feel like I’m always involved in the game.
‘You can get into the game too, I think. You can grab the ball, make some decent passes and build your confidence. You have to wait for the ball outside.’
City are tipped to win the Champions League for the second year in a row and have almost reached the last eight ahead of their home match against Copenhagen.
Kevin De Bruyne scored a superb opener, but City were allowed back after Ederson’s poor passing attempt allowed Magnus Mattsson to score the equaliser.
Bernardo Silva took advantage of a deflection to fire City back into the lead on the stroke of half-time, before Foden made sure of the result seconds from time.
