Great British Bak Off participants all stayed safe for another week after two bakers missed bread week due to illness.

Rebs Lightbody, 23, and Abdul Rehman Sharif, 29, were absent from the infamous tent this week – but Judge Prue Leith revealed that means a double-elimination is on the way in the near future.

Satisfied host Matt Lucas told the bakers, “Well, nobody’s going home this week. Given the quality here and the fact that Rebs and Abdul aren’t here, the judges thought everyone deserved a chance to bake again.”

But Prue announced the news: “They were all overjoyed because no one had to go.

“They’re all friends, they don’t want to see their friends go home, but sooner or later we have to send two bakers home and that’s no fun.”

Broodweek – according to many the hardest of the twelve on Bake Off – was a difficult one for the participants as usual this year, but the 60-year-old Dawn was especially worried after her performance.

The Bedfordshire IT manager said: ‘The bread week was a disgrace. I got to the bottom of the pile this week, I’m very concerned.’

In episode three, the eight remaining contestants baked two signature pizzas, a technical challenge to make a pain aux raisin, and a “savory Swedish” showstopper.

Many people on Twitter found that the showstopper was the exact opposite of its name – users said it made them “nauseous” and compared the bakes to Rachel’s trifle on the American sitcom Friends.

Bah! Many people on Twitter found that the showstopper was the exact opposite of its name – with users saying it made them “nauseous” and comparing the bakes to Rachel’s trifle in Friends.

Rebs and Abdul will return to the show next week.

It comes as fans complained last week about Northern Ireland student Rebs, 23, who asked fellow bakers for her help making macarons, Garibaldi biscuits and a mask made from biscuit.

When making her cat-themed macarons, she got several hands on deck to get her across the finish line.

One person said on Twitter: ‘Forbid helping on #GBBO. Only then will this be fair.’

Rebs was confused to find that her mixture for her macarons — which were modeled after her own 15-year-old cat — didn’t quite turn out well on her first try.

She decided to start over, leaving her hugely behind with the other participants; most people’s creations were decorated while hers were still cooking in the oven.
