This is the moment a Good Samaritan in Rhode Island saved a toddler after seeing the child alone on a scaffolding balcony.
Video of the terrifying moment was captured as the toddler climbed out of a window to the top of the building Tuesday morning in Woonsocket, close to the Massachusetts border.
The man, who wished to remain anonymous, heroically climbed to the child’s hiding place and rescued the two-year-old who climbed onto a balcony on South Main Street.
According to police, the child’s mother left the window near the child’s bed open at night to cool the room. The child was successfully rescued and suffered no injuries.
‘Crazy, what if he hadn’t been there? You know, we don’t think about this kind of thing happening, but it happens all the time,” said neighbor Michaela Carter NBC10.

The anonymous man rushed to the toddler after trying to tell the child to step back from the edge of the building
The video of the rescue, shot from a nearby car, begins as the man, wearing a red hoodie, pulls himself onto the roof.
Without stairs or ladders, he quickly makes his way to the top, where the toddler walks around close to the edge.
The video ends with him reaching out to the toddler before quickly picking the child up and walking to the window.
Michelle Higgins, another person nearby, said, “I kept thinking, ‘Oh, my God. Oh, my God. Oh, my God. The baby’s going to fall.'”
Higgins said the open window was visible from the street as the man continued to try to tell the baby to move away from the edge of the balcony.

“I don’t know how he got around the side of the building. My son keeps saying he should be Spider-Man,” Higgins said.
According to the police report, the mother was informed by her roommate that her child was on the roof after witnessing the dramatic encounter.
‘I think he’s a hero. I wanted to go out and give him a hug,” Higgins said.
After the child was rescued, the Ministry of Children, Youth and Families was notified of the incident. It is unclear whether the child’s mother has been charged.
The mother declined to talk to NBC 10 about what happened.
