Couple are spotted getting VERY frisky as they have sex on beach in Pattaya, Thailand
Authorities have launched a hunt to track down a couple who were filmed having sex on a popular tourist beach.
The pair, believed to be tourists, were at Jomtien Beach in Pattaya, Thailand, in the early hours of the morning when they were spotted taking part in the brazen display.
Jomtien is located just south of central Pattaya – a very popular tourist destination notorious for its seedy red-light bars and wild nightlife.
The incident, which first surfaced on social media on February 6, is the latest in a series of such incidents involving couples having blatant public sex on the beach, which can result in stiff penalties if caught.
Despite there being people around and bright street lights, a couple, believed to be tourists, engaged in sexual activity on a beach in Thailand. People looked at it and laughed
The pair are not the first to have sex on Pattaya Beach, and people are known to commit adultery after leaving nearby bars in the popular tourist hotspot.
In the one-minute video, the daring duo seemed unconcerned with the presence of others – the filmmakers laughed as they pointed their phones at the pair.
Posted on Facebook this week, the question was asked: ‘Is this normal in Pattaya?’
Many people were shocked by the egregious act the couple performed.
“Why don’t you go to a hotel with performances like that?” wrote one.
‘What kind of people are these?’ said another.
The city’s tourist police are investigating the incident, but fear the pair may have long since left the area.
The stretch of beach where the couple had sex now has two lifeguard tents, which were installed there two months ago but were not seen in the video, suggesting it may have been filmed before.
The incident comes months after another couple angered locals and officials with similar beach antics.
Sexual acts in public are illegal in Thailand and people who give in to their urges can face up to five years in prison.
Despite the risk of imprisonment, this has not deterred people from engaging in public sexual contact.

In May last year, a woman was caught having oral sex with a man.
The pair were under a streetlight on a public footpath – and workers were nearby setting up a stage.
In 2020, a Russian couple who were caught on camera having sex on a beach apologized to police.
Tourists Roman Grigorenko, 26, and Daria Vinogradova, 19, were also filmed in Pattaya on New Year’s Eve.
When the couple left a bar, they went to the beach and continued drinking before having sex.
Ms Vinogradova was filmed unbuttoning her jeans and then doing the same to Mr Grigorenko’s jeans.
The act lasted about 30 seconds before the tourists returned to their hotel.
The footage was handed over to police, who called in five of their top officers to find the pair.
Police Lieutenant Colonel Piyapong Ensarn said at the time that the indecent act could “destroy” Pattaya’s good image for tourists.
The two lovebirds were arrested, after which they apologized for the offense they caused.
But the Russian tourists insisted they had never noticed anyone in their immediate vicinity.
