Dancing On Ice’s Roxy Shahidi and Lou Sanders leave show in shock double elimination

Dancing On Ice’s Roxy Shahidi and Lou Sanders were the latest stars to leave the series on Sunday night after a shock double elimination.

In a first for the skating show, the lowest-placed couple left the competition directly, while two others faced off.

After making it to the bottom three, Emmerdale’s Roxy Shahidi and her dance partner Sylvain Longchambon were the couple who received the lowest scores and were automatically eliminated from the show.

On learning she was leaving, host Holly Willougby said: “It’s such a cheeky way to go out like this. I feel sorry for you.’

After being voted off, Roxy, who had previously sprained her shoulder in training, said she was disappointed she didn’t get a chance to perform during the skate off.

She said: ‘I’m really proud of what I’ve done and what I’ve learned. The whole experience has been incredible.”

Receiving a score of 24.5 from the judges, Jayne Torville said: ‘The marks are a bit low because you did an assisted jump for the judges challenge.’

She added that she would have liked to see more skating, while Christopher Dean agreed that he wanted her to be a bit more independent.

Judge Oti Mabuse said she was sad because she felt the performance fell ‘a bit short’.

Comedian Lou Samders and her partner Colin Grafton ended up in the skate off with Ricky Norwood and Annette Dytrt.

Unfortunately for them, the judges chose Ricky as their winner of the night, bringing Lou’s time on the show to an end.

After her elimination, Lou joked, “It’s all about never giving up, so we’ll be back next week.”

She continued: “I had the absolute time of my life, thank you. He (Colin) said his insurance has gone up since working with me.”

Colin added: ‘We had a blast and I don’t think I’ve ever laughed so much.’

And Lou joked: ‘Laughed at my dancing.’

The return of the judges’ challenge also took place, with the celebrities having to perform either a freestyle jump with two feet leaving the ice, or a solo spin on one foot for a minimum of two revolutions.

Speaking about the challenge, head judge Christopher said it had to be ‘practically perfect if (contestants) wanted to achieve a show-stopping score’.

Lou Sanders kicked off the show for Musicals week when she hit the rink with her professional partner Brendyn Hatfield for a Six-inspired routine.

The comedian, who entered the skate off last Saturday, achieved her highest score of the series with 26.5 out of a possible 40 as three of the judges awarded her 6.5 points and Christopher 7.

An impressed Jane said: ‘I loved the Bolero ending and the jump was good. Overall, I think everything is better.”

While Oti added: “I enjoyed watching you.”
