Amber Davies rehearses the terrifying headbanger with professional skate partner Simon Proulx-Senecal as they prepare for Musicals Week
Amber Davies was thrown through the air by skating partner Simon Proulx-Senecal as they rehearsed the headbanger ahead of Dancing On Ice on Sunday night.
The former Love Island star, 27, wore a hard hat as she attempted the risky skating ahead of the show’s Musicals Week.
In an attempt to increase the difficulty of her routine, Amber and Simon have added the iconic lift as they skate to Revolting Children from Matilda The Musical.
In the headbanger, or bounce spin, a skater’s ankle is picked up and spun by his partner.
Because of the potential danger, this step is actually banned by the International Skating Union (ISU), which regulates competitive skating.

When performing the move at an ISU event, points are deducted by the judges, but it can be used in exhibition or show skating routines.
Amber protected herself from the ice by wearing a black long-sleeved sweater and gray leggings, while Simon donned a gray hoodie and pants.
The skating pair will also have to add the judges’ challenge, a jump or a spin, to their performance.
Last week, Amber topped the leaderboard after achieving Miles Nazaire’s highest series score, while she and Simon earned a whopping 34 points for their Cha-Cha.
During the dance, the Love Island star was thrown high and masterfully completed a series of complicated lifts.
Host Holly Willoughby exclaimed: ‘You’ve done it again, that was bold, you’re always so brave, the things you’re doing out there are incredible.’
Amber, who looked sensational in a skimpy and sparkly flamenco dress, giggled: “I’m a bit of a daredevil.”
But viewers were left furious, with many claiming her routine was ‘good, but not that good’ – and were quick to point out she wasn’t doing any solo skating.

Others expressed their disappointment at the judges’ choice, noting that contestants like Ryan Thomas and Ricky Norwood challenged themselves to a much more solo skate routine – unlike the Love Island star.
Watching X – formerly known as Twitter – viewers did not shy away from sharing their opinions.
“HOW can they rate Ryan lower than Amber?! Skated alone the whole time, also very good. Amber never once let go of her partner’s hand. Judging sucks this year #DancingOnIce,” said one.
A second echoed, adding: ‘It’s crazy how Amber tops the leaderboard with 34.0. Not once did she skate alone and the others were much better than her routine. She’s from an ITV show. Why am I not surprised? #DancingOnIce.’
‘I really love Amber and that was a great performance, but I’m struggling to understand how they can rate her so highly if she didn’t let go of Simon’s hand the whole time? She needs to skate by herself for a bit #DancingOnIce,” someone else wrote.
A fourth user joked, saying: ‘How to get the highest score on #DancingOnIce 1. Don’t let go of your partner 2. Stumble multiple times Worked well for Amber.’
‘How can they score Ryan the same as Amber?!!? He only skated and did lifts, she got pushed around! #DancingOnIce Not good,” another viewer responded angrily.
Dancing on Ice continues tonight at 6.20pm on ITV1 and ITVX
