Ange Postecoglou has laughed off a prediction from Opta’s supercomputer that Tottenham have just a 0.1 percent chance of winning the Premier League title.
This week’s latest calculations showed that Spurs, who are currently fifth and seven points behind leaders Liverpool, have only the slimmest of chances.
Manchester City were overwhelming favourites, with a 66.2 per cent chance of securing a fourth straight title, while Liverpool’s odds were 26.1 per cent, Arsenal 7.4 per cent and Aston Villa 0.2 per cent.
But Spurs’ Australian boss blasted the prediction ahead of Saturday’s home game against Brighton.
‘A supercomputer! Does it go into a phone booth and turn into something other than a regular computer?” said Postecoglou.

‘What did it say, 0.1 percent? So then we got an opportunity. Let’s go for it. No problems, no problems with that, we have a chance.”
Spurs topped the Premier League at the start of October after going unbeaten in their first ten league matches and winning seven.
But as injuries began to take their toll, Postecoglou’s side slowly slipped down the standings, but they remain on course to qualify for the Champions League next season.
They dropped two points at the death when Jarrad Branthwaite scored a 94th-minute equalizer for Everton in last Saturday’s 2-2 draw and will hope to return to winning ways against Brighton.
Postecoglou will be boosted by the return of Son Heung-min after South Korea’s elimination from the Asian Cup, while Yves Bissouma is also back in training after Mali’s withdrawal from the Africa Cup of Nations.
The Spurs boss believes his team’s results will improve now that the squad is back to full strength.
“It gives us the opportunity to make some changes to our training, to the way we want to play football, to see if we can go up another level or two or three between now and the end of the year,” he says. said.

‘We still have fifteen games to go and we probably have the healthiest squad since the start of the season.
“That gives us that platform, but you still have to go out and perform. It doesn’t make it any easier. It doesn’t give us any momentum unless we take advantage of it.
‘Because of the extra bodies, the competition for places is also at a higher level, which is always good.
‘I like it, not because people get complacent, it’s just that everyone is trying to raise their level, which can only be a good thing, whether you’re in the team or not.
“All these factors give us a platform to finish the season strong.”
