Donald Trump clinches third primary victory with 74% in the U.S. Virgin Islands and is poised to walk away with all of the delegates
Donald Trump secured his third straight victory in the primaries on Thursday, when the US Virgin Islands count showed the former president with 74 percent of the vote.
Nikki Haley lost to Trump again, earning just 26 percent in the US Virgin Islands.
The ex-president is also expected to cruise to victory in the Nevada caucuses on Thursday evening, with almost no competitors except long-awaited hopeful and Texas-based businessman and preacher Ryan Binkley.
Trump touted his victory in the Virgin Islands as he landed in Las Vegas, Nevada to attend a caucus night party at the Treasure Island Hotel & Casino.
Former President Donald Trump won the presidential primaries in the US Virgin Islands on Thursday with 74% of the vote, as he prepares to walk away with a victory in Nevada just hours later. A video of the former president was played for those gathered in St. Thomas to hear the results
‘I want to thank you all. We won a tremendous victory,” Trump said during brief virtual remarks played for those who gathered in St. Thomas to hear the results.
‘We expected to win, but we didn’t expect that much. You are incredible people that I will never forget.”
It comes on the heels of a very news-filled day, including a Justice Department report deeming President Joe Biden too old to be charged in the classified documents case, and Supreme Court oral arguments suggesting some states are going too far in their efforts to keep Trump off the 2024 ballot.
‘Great news! As we land in Nevada and get ready to head to the Caucus, word just came out that we overwhelmingly won the Virgin Islands Caucus, ALL Delegates, with almost 75% of the vote,” Trump wrote on Truth Thursday evening Social.
‘I just called to thank those involved. They celebrate and have a great time. They deserve it!’
The Republicans of the US Virgin Islands will meet in the presidential primaries on Thursday
“This was a very big day for your favorite president, the Republican Party and democracy!” he added, likely referring to both the caucus victory, the DOJ report and the SCOTUS arguments.
There is some confusion about how many delegates the islands will send to the convention this summer, but Trump is poised to get them all with his landslide victory on Thursday.
Officials in the U.S. Virgin Islands say they plan to send nine delegations and six alternatives to the Republican National Convention in Milwaukee, Wisconsin in July.
But the RNC claims they only have four delegates.
