The Houston Texans completed a clean sheet in rookie honors when quarterback C.J. Stroud was announced as the AP Offensive Rookie of the Year and Will Anderson Jr. was named Defensive Rookie of the Year.

Stroud had been the favorite to win the award by a wide margin, winning by a landslide after receiving 48 of the 50 first-place votes.

He wasn’t the only Texans rookie to take home an award on the night, as Anderson Jr. from Houston was named Defensive Rookie of the Year.

The Texans’ defensive end received 16 first-place votes, 21 second-place votes and eight third-place votes for 151 points.

Houston is now the second in the last two years to have both the offensive and defensive rookies of the year, after the New York Jets accomplished the same feat last season.

Stroud and Anderson were selected back-to-back with the second and third picks in the NFL draft.

The No. 2 overall pick Stroud threw for 4,108 yards, 23 touchdowns, five interceptions and had a passer rating of 100.8, third best of a rookie.

He led the league in passing yards per game (273.9) and had the best touchdown-interception ratio of 4.6, becoming only the third player in NFL history to finish first in both categories, alongside Joe Montana (1989) and Tom Brady (2007). .

Anderson had seven sacks, 67 pressures, 22 quarterback hits, 29 tackles, including 10 for loss. He also had a blocked field goal on special teams.
