Now we know: Harry will be totally, irreconcilably cut off when William is King… MAUREEN CALLAHAN’s eviscerating verdict on the brutally brief visit that saw NO brotherly meeting (and after all those insults, who could blame William?)

Memo to Prince Harry: Don’t let the door hit you on the way out.

That’s the obvious message from Buckingham Palace – and what will happen under William’s rule.

Just 24 hours after taking a transatlantic flight to see King Charles, who has just been diagnosed with cancer, Harry flies back to California.

That’s 16,000 kilometers and 21 hours in the air minutes with his father.

Imagine Harry’s overwhelming emotions. The exhaustion of jet lag – commercial flying.

It looks like Tyler Perry’s private jet couldn’t be loaned out this time.

Nor was there room in the palace, or in Clarence House, or in any castle or royal cottage.

Harry was reportedly forced to put himself up in a hotel. Room service for one!

Imagine how lonely he must have felt, his father running away after their fleeting reunion – the first time Harry has spoken to Charles in person since Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth’s funeral in September 2022 – contentedly cocooned with Camilla.

His estranged brother, his only sibling, who cared for his recovering wife and their three children, without invitation – probably not a phone call or even a text.

All of Harry’s old friends, cut off or gone. No one to see, to feel sorry for, to meet in the pub for a pint and a cry.

Naturally, Harry had no choice but to turn around and go home.

It seems our disconsolate Duke is learning the hardest of lessons, one most of us learn as toddlers: actions have consequences.

After selling out his family’s secrets, vilifying them for years via Oprah Winfrey and Netflix and a self-pitying memoir, making Prince Philip and Queen Elizabeth’s final years a misery – well, it seems the royal family is among the The sad conclusion has been reached, the only conclusion, that Harry cannot be trusted.

To add to his humiliation, a source close to Prince William made it clear that he would not see or speak to his brother under any circumstances.

“No plans” to see Harry, the source said.

And why would William risk a conversation?

The one piece of information William and Kate want to keep private – the exact status of her health and recovery – is exactly what the Sussexes, if history is any guide, might leak.

Think of Meghan cruelly reminding the world of the nickname “Waity Katie” during Oprah’s sit-down.

Or Harry writing about Kate’s refusal to share her lip gloss with Meghan and reprinting a tense exchange between the women about bridesmaid dresses. That Kate made Meghan cry!

And, most seriously, the gruesome pair appear to do nothing to stop their groupie Omid Scobie’s revelation that the so-called “royal racists” were Charles and Kate – as printed in a foreign edition of Scobie’s book “Endgame,” which ended November was released.

Really, who in the royal fold would trust these two?

Especially with their Netflix deal in the bubble! And Harry still owes his publisher at least one more book. Rumor has it that Meghan is planning her own memoir.

If there was ever a time for Harry to show discretion, this was it.

Immediately after landing at Heathrow on Tuesday he rushed to Clarence House, arriving at 2.45pm.

He met his father for only 45 minutes.

Harry’s motorcade then departed at 3:32 p.m., while Charles and Camilla left for Sandringham at 3:38 p.m. – just six minutes later.

Cheeky. Not even a delay for optics’ sake.

Perhaps Charles was tired from his treatments. But the bags were clearly packed. The schedule had to remain intact.

It seems that this visit would be tolerated rather than welcomed.

Sources told Charles’ biographer, Robert Jobson, that while the king may have been moved by his “dear boy” flying over, Harry actually caused “some disturbance by ‘taking it upon himself’ to fly over uninvited.”

Charles may wish for a reconciliation. When a cancer diagnosis is made, no matter how early the disease is discovered or how treatable it is, it tends to realign one’s priorities and perspectives.

At that point it seems we can take comfort that Charles’ prognosis, as reported, is excellent.

Otherwise, we’d probably see more urgency here, not just between Charles and Harry, but also between Harry and William.

And on Monday it seemed for a moment that the door had opened even slightly – that a remorseful Harry, shocked by this sad news, would have newfound clarity.

That perhaps William, despite the countless insults directed at Kate – despite his suggestion in ‘Spare’ that the future king had married not out of love but out of duty – would want some kind of relationship with his brother.

It seems that, at least on that brotherly front, all is lost.

William has made it clear that there is no hope of reconciliation. Their father’s diagnosis won’t move the needle.

Once William takes the throne, this will be Harry’s future: total and complete separation from the royal family.

William must also be in pain, not only because of his sick father, but also because of the loss of his only sibling, the only other person who knows their specific, unique upbringing.

Does Harry understand now? The sheer emotional carnage he leaves behind?

Charles was magnanimous in holding a meeting with his son and allowing the media to report on it.

After all, Harry wrote about his death fantasy against Charles in “Spare,” about remotely piloting a fighter jet and attacking his father after a visit several years ago – a visit that, he wrote, left Harry overjoyed.

“I loved seeing Dad, loved feeling his pride, and felt buoyed by his praise.”

But six lines later: “The Typhoon followed Dad, made a low pass straight over him, almost breaking the windows of his Audi,” Harry wrote.

‘But in the end he spared him. By my orders’.

How can Harry ever come back from that? Of all this?

“It never had to be this way,” Harry told Tom Bradby in a television interview last year. ‘I would like to get my father back. I would like to have my brother back.”

It certainly didn’t have to be this way. But Harry made it that way.
