Skins star Kaya Scodelario splits from husband Ben Walker after eight years and two children as they insist are still ‘the best of friends’

Kaya Scodelario has divorced her husband Benjamin Walker after eight years of marriage.

The actress, 31, reportedly secretly split from the actor, 41, last year but said they remain “the best of friends.”

The couple tied the knot in December 2015 and share a seven-year-old son and a two-year-old daughter together.

In a joint statement to The sunthey said, “Some time ago, Kaya and Ben made the mutual decision to end their marriage but continue to lovingly co-parent while remaining the best of friends.

“They ask that both their privacy and that of their children remain respected as they move forward as a family.”

The couple haven’t been seen together in public in over a year, and Kaya last posted a photo of them together on her Instagram at a wedding in September 2022.

Last week, the Skins star attended the Vanity Fair EE Rising Star party where she was seen ditching her wedding ring.

She has since jetted off with a group of friends for a sun-drenched trip to the Maldives.

On her Instagram on Tuesday, she shared a photo of the trio posing by the clear sea and wrote: “I feel so lucky to be able to live life with these wonderful friends.”

Referring to her failed marriage, Kaya added: “Normalize going to ‘romantic’ locations with your friends instead…”

Kaya and Benjamin met while filming The King’s Daughter in 2014, when the Maze Runner star was 22 and The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power actor was 31.

After a whirlwind romance, they got engaged in December 2014 and tied the knot that December, both taking the surname Scodelario-Davis.

Benjamin was previously married to Mamie Gummer, Meryl Streep’s daughter, from 2011 until their divorce in March 2013.

While Kaya previously dated her Skins co-star Jack O’Connell and had a long-term romance with Shameless actor Eliott Tittensor from late 2009 to early 2014.

Kaya rose to fame for her role as Effy in the cult classic Channel 4 series Skins, alongside Nicholas Hoult and Daniel Kaluuya, her son’s godfather.

Since then, she has become a queen of the silver screen, starring in Hollywood films including Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales and The Maze Runner.

She will next be seen in Guy Ritchie’s Netflix adaptation of The Gentlemen, opposite Theo James and Ray Winstone.
