Super Bowl: Patrick Mahomes insists Travis Kelce is the ‘hardest working guy in the building’ despite his high-profile love story with Taylor Swift
Kansas City Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes insisted that Travis Kelce is still committed to football despite his high-profile romance with Taylor Swift.
The Chiefs tight end has been in the spotlight since he started dating the pop star over the summer, with Swift attending 12 games in Kansas City this season.
However, despite all the extra attention on Kelce this season, Mahomes emphasized that the two-time Super Bowl winner is just as focused on his professional life as he is his personal life.
The signal caller, who has built a special bond with Kelce on the field, called him the “hardest working guy in the building.”
‘He handled it great. I think what I’ve always known about Travis is that he loves to follow his dreams outside of the building,” Mahomes said.

“Obviously he has a great relationship now and he embraces that, but when he comes into the building it’s all about football.”
Mahomes has had a front-row seat to Kelce and Swift’s love story, with his wife Brittany becoming fast friends with the singer as they watched multiple games together from VIP suites, even coordinating their outfits and creating celebratory handshakes.
“It’s been great to see their relationship grow,” he said of the couple.
The quarterback was also asked this weekend about the 14-time Grammy Award winner’s hits ahead of the Super Bowl in Las Vegas.
“That ‘Anti-Hero’ song, that’s pretty sweet,” Mahomes said about which Swift song is his favorite. “So that’s what I would say. I love ‘Love Story’. It touches me every time.’
Swift is expected to attend Super Bowl LVIII, despite playing shows as part of ‘The Eras Tour’ in Tokyo until Saturday.
There may be a six-year age gap between them, but Mahomes and Kelce are good friends off the court.
On the field, they have established themselves as one of the NFL’s most dangerous offensive threats, with the pair regularly teaming up for the Chiefs.

Mahomes was selected 10th overall in the first round of the 2017 NFL Draft, but Kelce had been in Kansas City for four years before that.
They have won two Vince Lombardi Trophies together and will compete in a fourth Super Bowl on Sunday when the Chiefs play the San Francisco 49ers in Las Vegas.
Recalling their first meeting, Mahomes said, “I obviously knew him because he was such a great football player even before I joined (the Chiefs).
“I think my biggest impression was, ‘that’s a tall man,’ because I had never seen a man who could move such a tall man.
“But just a good guy, man, I think I knew that from day one.”
