Parks And Recreation co-stars Aubrey Plaza and Nick Offerman reunite for zany Mountain Dew commercial to air during the Super Bowl

Parks And Recreation stars Aubrey Plaza and Nick Offerman, 53, reunited for a hilarious Super Bowl commercial for this weekend’s upcoming game between the Kansas City Chiefs and the San Francisco 49ers in Las Vegas.

On site, the former co-stars ride fire-breathing dragons while drinking Mountain Dew’s new flavor Baja Blast while playing their deadpan characters from the beloved former sitcom.

‘I died. I was like, ‘Yes, yes, yes, yes, yes!'” Plaza, 39, said of whether he was asked to film the commercial during a Zoom call, per Variety.

“It was so fun because I love Nick so much and even though we don’t play our characters in Parks and Rec, it somehow feels like a little April and Ron reunion.

“I feel like in an alternate universe, this is exactly what they would do. So it all made sense to me,” Aubrey – who will appear in the upcoming dark comedy Honey Don’t – enthusiastically explained.

In the ad, Aubrey gets stuck in an elevator, gets hit over the head with pool noodles during a kid’s pool party, and gets punched repeatedly in a boxing ring — but despite all these mishaps, her character has a good time.

The ad is intended to let fans know that the Taco Bell fan favorite Baja Blast is now available in stores for the first time.

In her signature funny tone, she starts the spot and says, “It’s me. America’s darling, and I just love to enjoy it…a Mountain Dew Baja Blast.”

She repeats the line about having a blast when she gets hit by pool noodles, stuck in an elevator, in a sewer, and kidnapped by aliens.

Then she sees herself riding a fire-breathing dragon and says, ‘I can have fun anytime, anywhere.

Then Offerman arrives with his own breathing dragon and jokes, “What about someone?” while Plaze laughs.

Offerman ends the commercial saying, “I’m having a good time too.”

“You know, there could be some kind of Parks and Rec – Game of Thrones mash-up here, where April and Ron time travel to Game of Thrones times and then just ride those dragons around,” Plaza joked to Variety. “I don’t know, I’m just spitballing here.”

As for her plans for the Super Bowl, Plaza reminisced about Offerman’s past Super Bowl parties.

“Nick always had a really good Super Bowl viewing party with the funniest people,” Plaza said.

“That was always my favorite part (of the Super Bowl), because you just hang out with Jason Mantzoukas and Rob Huebel and Amy Poehler and all these people, and you just hear everyone’s jokes about all the commercials and everything that’s going on on .’

In a separate interview with People about the commercial, Aubrey explained her motivation behind creating a Super Bowl ad.

‘There are so many eyes on that broadcast. It feels like an achievement. But the fact that they asked me to do it, it was just grateful,” the White Lotus alum shared People.

‘It’s one of those things you always dream of doing and then every year you look at it and you go, “Oh wow, that person and that person, that person…”

‘So I feel very happy and I feel like, yes, I have another notch on my belt. So I think it’s really cool.’
