Jerry Rice has called for the 49ers to ‘double down’ on both Travis Kelce and Taylor Swift as the power couple hopes to leave Las Vegas to celebrate a Super Bowl win.
Swift has regularly attended Kelce’s games since the pair went public with their relationship in September, and she is expected to be on hand for the Chiefs’ big game against San Francisco after wrapping up a string of shows in Tokyo.
And Rice, a 49ers legend, offered his former team a light-hearted plan to stop their opponents.
“We’ve got to find Patrick Mahomes, and man, that’s a tough task,” he said NFL Network’s Tom Pelissero.
“And Travis Kelce, I would 100% double him and also, Taylor Swift, I would 100% double her. We don’t want Travis to get going because every time Travis goes, the camera goes to the box with Taylor Swift.
Travis Kelce’s relationship with pop star Taylor Swift also dominated the NFL this season
And Jerry Rice jokingly said the 49ers need to contain them both this weekend
“So we have to change that and if we do that, I feel like we have a legitimate chance.”
Swift and Kelce celebrated together on the MT&T Bank Stadium field after the Chiefs’ victory in the AFC Championship Game.
And the pop megastar has undoubtedly introduced many of her “Swifties” to the NFL.
“When I look at her, she really loves football…the crowds have gotten so much bigger, she’s done so much for the NFL,” Rice added. “And Travis, he’s having a ball right now and we need to take him out of the game.
Kelce actually broke Rice’s all-time postseason receptions record against Baltimore, when he tallied 11 catches for 116 yards and a touchdown.
The Chiefs face the 49ers on Sunday at 6:30 p.m.
