Congress stands for tribal Jal-Jungle-Jamin, says Rahul Gandhi

Congress leader Rahul Gandhi on Sunday said his party stands for ‘Jal-Jungle-Jamin’ (water, forest and land) of indigenous people and employment for youth.

Gandhi was speaking at a roadshow in Jharkhand’s Dhanbad district as part of his ‘Bharat Jodo Nyay Yatra’.

After an overnight halt in the Tundi block of the district on Saturday, the yatra resumed at Govindpur in Dhanbad town on Sunday, the third day of its yatra in Jharkhand.

The main objective of the yatra is to prevent sale of public sector units to private parties and ensure justice for working youth and tribals of the country, Gandhi said.

“The Congress Party stands for the Jal-Jungle-Jamin of the tribals and works for education and employment of the youth. Economic imbalance, demonetisation, GST and unemployment have ruined the future of youth in the country,” he said.

Jharkhand Congress Vice President Brajendra Prasad Singh said the yatra that started from Govindpur passed through Saraidhela, IIT-ISM gate, Randhir Verma Chowk and Shramik Chowk near the railway station and reached Bank More where Gandhi held a public meeting speech.

Then we continued towards the Bokaro district.

Congressman Jairam Ramesh said Bokaro is a steel city. “These are the monuments built by (former Prime Minister) Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru. When people say what we have done in 70 years… Bhilai, Rourkela, Durgapur, Bhakra Nangal, Bokaro, Dhanbad, Barauni, Sindri – these are all monuments to India’s economic development,” Ramesh said.

After the launch break in Bokaro, the yatra will restart from Jena More around 2 p.m. Gandhi’s night halt is scheduled for Sunday in Ramgarh district.

The yatra will cover 804 km and cover 13 districts of the state over eight days in two phases.

In total, the route will cover 6,713 km in 67 days, passing through 110 districts in 15 states, before ending in Mumbai on March 20.
