The Block 2022: Fans furious over ‘unfair’ treatment of Omar and Oz

>

Fans of The Block have berated host Scott Cam and the show’s producers for severely punishing Omar and Oz for breaking a rule that other contestants got away with.

The Western Sydney partners scored a heavily discounted piano below the 50 percent mark of retail value, leading to their disqualification from Living and Dining Room Week.

Viewers were quick to point out that Ankur and Sharon went unpunished when they negotiated an $800 to $100 antique mirror, winning $12,000.

“Didn’t house three buy a mirror for $100.00 that one in the store for $800 for a challenge was putting everything they bought in the kitchen, and they won with it, how is that different?” one person responded on Twitter.

“Google a recipe for a challenge, that’s fine, buy a mirror for $100 that’s worth $800, oh that’s fine, but negotiating a piano that’s 14 years old and refurbished, that’s a big NO NO” said another.

Someone else wrote: ‘Didn’t the korfball pair get into trouble for more than a 50% discount a few seasons ago? They just had to pay the difference to not be disqualified.”

Fans also said it was a “dog act” that The Block producers and host Scott Cam knew about the Omar and Oz piano deal, but chose to wait until grading day to call them out because “drama is more important.” was for production’.

‘This is ridiculous. Omar told the camera about the discount DAYS AGO! They could have warned him about the rule he obviously didn’t know, but no, why would you do that when you can use it for dramatic content in front of everyone on the judging? Dog movement…not so surprised, but still,” one viewer tweeted.

Meanwhile, another person said the show went “unwatchable” and wrote: “Three times during the week the guys said the piano cost them only $7,500. Scott Cam knew this and the producers knew this. To let it go until the judging and Sunday night was aw**k act.’

Omar & Oz say that all week production knew the piano cost $36,000, but they paid $7,500. As with all things that break the rules, they should have been told this before they were revealed so they had time to make things right. Creating drama was more important to the production,” another commented.

On Monday night’s episode, rival contestants Tom and Sarah-Jane gathered support from the other couples and called for a financial audit.

They were careful not to call individuals, suggesting they wanted everyone’s books checked.

However, the other couples had no problem telling the producers who they thought should be checked.

“Yeah, I really think Omar and Oz have things to hide. It makes no sense,’ Rachel said. “A lot of what they’ve done and accomplished makes no sense.”

Omar and Oz were under no illusions about who the target was, but they seemed at ease when they voted for the audit and later wrote on Instagram, “We want the financial audit as much as they do.”
